Celebrating the Season of Lent and Easter

Coming Into The Light WELCOME TO OUR PARISH this weekend Fr. Frank Kriski, CSSR, a Redemptorist priest who is serving the sacramental needs of our community. Father Kriski’s community has requested this opportunity to speak with our parishioners about one way in which they might continue to grow in faith and in the knowledge of our Catholic religion.

Are you looking for hope? For inspiration? For spiritual guidance? The Liguorian Magazine offers all this and more! Grow in your relationship with Christ through timely pastoral messages on matters of faith, Christian living and practices, and social justice.

Liguorian is a leading Catholic magazine published by the Redemptorists. It reaches about 60,000 households each month and provides solid and straightforward answers to the important questions and problems facing today’s Catholics.

The Liguorian mission is to help you navigate your day-to-day lives, assisted by your faith in both print and digital formats. Beginning May 1st, 2014, your print subscription also includes FREE access to Liguorian Online Digital Edition.

Just register at Liguori.org to receive access. The Liguorian App is also available at iTunes for ISO platforms: iPads, iPhones, or iPod Touch.

Visit Liguorian.org and click on the subscription tab to learn more. Or call 1-800-325-9521.

Again, I encourage you to welcome Father Kriski and help him to get to know our parish on his visit with us.

“Yes, God so loved the world

that he gave his only Son, so that everyone

who believes in him might not perish

but might have eternal life.”

The Gospel of John 3:16 You may recall that Father Pete Schavitz, who lead us in our Parish Mission several years ago, is also a Redemptorist. You may want to let Father Kriski know what a good experience that was for us and for Our Lady of the Rosary Parish. I am on retreat now through March 20th at St. Meinrad’s Benedictine Monastery in southern Indiana. You can be sure that each and all of you—and the work of our parish community—are in my thoughts and prayers.

Our Parish Giving Evidence of God “Where Is Their God?”

On Ash Wednesday the Prophet Joel (1st Reading) calls the People of God together for repentance and wonders why people should be asking, “Where is their God?” In other words, by the way we live as a community the presence and power of God ought to be clearly evident, easily found.

This is the Lenten question for us as a community of faith. If God is to be more evident to others through our parishioners then we must remember and celebrate that we are called to —

SERVICE

This Lent pray that the Spirit will continue to help us to know our goodness, to respect the dignity of all persons, and to care for the material and social needs of others.

When people are asking about us, “Where is their God?” true evidence that we are a community of Service is one of the best ways of insuring that the question gets asked less often.

Lord Jesus, help us to be well known for our commitment to Service.

SEASONAL ALLERGIES

Spring means flower buds and blooming trees—and if you’re of the millions of people who have seasonal allergies, it also means sneezing, congestion, runny nose and other bothersome symptoms. Seasonal allergies—also called hay fever and allergic rhinitis—can make you miserable. But before you settle for plastic flowers and artificial turf, try these simple strategies to keep season-al allergies under control.

REDUCE YOUR EXPOSURE TO ALLERGY TRIGGERS To reduce your exposure to the things that trigger your allergy signs and symptoms (allergens)… * Stay indoors on dry, windy days-the best Time to go outside is after a good rain, which helps clear pollen from the air. * Delegate lawn mowing, weed pulling and other gardening chores that stir up pollen. * Remove clothes you’ve worn outside; you may also want to shower to rinse pollen from skin and hair. * Don’t hang laundry outside—pollen can stick to sheets and towels. * Wear a dust mask if you do outside chores TAKE EXTRA STEPS WHEN POLLEN COUNTS ARE HIGH Seasonal allergy signs and symptoms can flare up when there’s a lot of pollen in the air. These steps can help you re-duce your exposure: * Check your local TV or radio station, your local newspaper, or the internet for pollen forecasts and current pollen levels. * If high pollen counts are forecasted, start taking allergy medications before your symptoms start * Close doors and windows at night or any other time when pollen counts are high. * Avoid outdoor activity in the early Morning when pollen counts are highest KEEP INDOOR AIR CLEAN There’s no miracle product that can eliminate all allergens from the air in your home, but these suggestions may help: * Use the air conditioning in your house and car * If you have forced air heating or air conditioning in your house, use high- efficiency filters and follow regular maintenance schedules * Keep indoor air dry with a dehumidifier * Use a portable high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter in your bedroom. * Clean floors often with a vacuum cleaner that has a HEPA filter. Fourth Sunday in Lent March 15, 2015

WHAT’S YOUTH GROUP BEEN UP TO? We began the year raising money for our PROLIFE TRIP serving the Men’s Council Breakfast. They passed the hat and gave us a wonderful donation. We had so much support from many different do-

nors and we wanted to THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. It was fantastic experi-ence! We had a FAT TUESDAY celebration and talked about preparing for lent. Hopefully we can stick with our Lenten promises. This past weekend we joined the youth group at BTC for the 30 HOUR FAMINE. We are still collecting our dona-tions but it looks like we have over $450 to benefit World Vision. This Thursday we had MOVIE NIGHT and we are registering for the Steubenville Weekend Conference that will be held in the summer. If you are interested in our youth group or in being on our core team as an adult helper please call Ms Judy Krenn 314-761-6570

Please pray for our First Communion Class! Our second graders have been preparing to re-ceive Jesus for the first time and our communi-

ties are happy to welcome and encourage them on their journey. Please plan to join us as the stu-

dents of Christ Light of the Nations (members of both HNJ and OLOR) make their

First Communion on April 12, 2015 at the 10:30 liturgy at Our Lady of the Rosary.

(Holy Name will not have a 10:30 mass so that everyone can celebrate together)

Join us afterwards for a reception to celebrate in the cafeteria at Christ Light of the Nations

If you would like to contribute a desert (cake, pie, cupcakes) for this special event please contact Judy Krenn at 314-761-6570
