Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Mass Schedule at Holy Martyrs
Saturday
4:30 pm (in the church)
Sunday
9:30 am (in the church)
11:30 am (outside on the lawn)
Weekday
Monday - Friday at noon (in the church)
Holy Martyrs has added an 11:30 am outdoor
(weather permitting) Mass to its schedule. We made
this decision, in part, to accommodate families with
young children who struggle with wearing masks.
We continue to encourage attendees to wear masks
but this will provide some flexibility for those with
small children.
This Mass will take place, at least initially, on the
grassy area between the church building and the
picnic pavilion. For ease of access, you should plan
to park in the back parking lot.
Please plan to bring your own lawn chair
to sit on during Mass.
Important Note:
This Mass will be held weather-permitting !
If weather is not conducive to sitting
outdoors, Mass will be canceled.
If you are attending Mass in the Worship Space,
face masks MUST be worn. For more details,
please refer to the

I Can Do It
“Care of creation is not just something God spoke of
at the dawn of history; he entrusts it to each of us as
part of his plan.” Pope Francis
Products that come in single-use plastic bottles create
unnecessary waste. Look around your house to spot
items that can be replaced with other options. Use bar
soap for bathing. Buy shampoo bars. There are bars
available that are designed for both hair and body.
Make your own liquid hand soap by shaving a new bar
of soap or using soap slivers in water and putting it
into a foam dispenser. Bar soap is less expensive,
lasts longer, and works well.
Fewer choices simply your life. Less is more.
Pray for those who have died in Christ:

OPPORTUNITIES FOR SHARING TIME,
TALENT, TREASURE
Grateful Giving
Consider a Gift of Stock to
Support the Ministries of Holy Martyrs
In gratitude for all that God has given us, we, as
Christians, are called to give back to our community
and our church. In addition to the Sunday offertory, one
way of giving back might be transferring appreciated
stock to help Holy Martyrs continue its mission to lead
people to encounter Christ, grow in faith, and make
disciples. By transferring stock directly to our parish,
you may be able to avoid capital gains taxes.
For more information about what you need to do to
make such a gift, please contact
Therese McDonnell at 330-722-6633 or
Want to give without writing a check?

Pallotines Grow Food in East Africa (SAC)
The spiritual family of St. Vincent Pallotti (Fathers and
Brothers, Sisters, and Union of Catholic Apostolate)
originated in Rome, Italy, in the 1830’s and 1840’s. The
Society of priests and brothers, Societas Apostolatus
Catholici (S.A.C.) undertakes apostolic work in parishes
and mission territory.
Pallottines teach in
schools & colleges,
work as chaplains, and
in institutions such as
hospitals and prisons,
and are committed to
the formation of laity.
The Provincial and the
seat of the Province are in Dublin, Ireland. The Irish
Province was officially established in the United States in
the 1950’s and members continue to minister in Texas
and Michigan. The missionary focus for 2020 is to help
and assist the Irish Pallottine Missionary Works located in
East Africa. The goal is to feed, educate and provide care
for the most vulnerable in society. The shortage of water
is problematic. A two, three, or four-year drought leads
to localized famine and the death of crops, animals and
humans. Providing communities with support so that
water wells are drilled means over 200 local families in
neighboring villages can survive drought periods. In
addition, greenhouse facilities are provided to allow food
to be grown in a controlled environment throughout the
year. Food will feed one child for a day; education will
feed a child and their families for a life time.

Holy Martyrs Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer Shawls are available for the
asking for anyone who might be
experiencing difficulties of any
kind and who would find comfort in these shawls
and/or lap robes. They have been handmade with
lots of prayers for comfort and blessings for the
receiver. The ladies have continued making shawls
during this stressful time and have them readily
available.
If you or anyone you know would benefit from
receiving a shawl, please call the Church Office
at 330-722-6633
La Sagrada Familia Needs our Help
La Sagrada Familia, our sister parish in Cleveland, is in
dire need of a new IPad so the parish can
livestream their Masses.
If anyone is able to help, please contact the
Church Office at 330-722-6633.
Safe Practices When Coming to Holy Martyrs
Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Social distancing of at least six feet, except with family members who live with you, is required in the church and other indoor areas.
Everyone must sanitize their hands before entering the worship space. “The faithful are obliged to wear a mask or other face covering upon entering church and during the celebration of Mass, except for the brief moment of receiving Holy Communion.”
For the time being there will be no sign of peace at Mass. There will be a single Communion line up the main aisle with marked 6 foot intervals on the floor to maintain social distancing. Communicants seated in the middle sections will advance first up the main aisle then return to their seats
down the side aisles, followed by the side sections who will walk to the back of the church and up the main aisle then return to their seats down the side aisles, maintaining a six foot interval.
Please Note: For the health and safety of all, receiving Communion in the Hand is normative.
When approaching the minister for Holy Communion, the mask should be pulled down over the mouth only to receive the Host and immediately pulled up again.
The scheduled time for confession at Holy Martyrs is on Saturday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm in the reconciliation room, entered through the chapel.
a) A mask or facial covering must be worn when in the church buildings, including before and during confession.
b) Enter the chapel as usual and wait for the priest to be free.
c) Maintain social distance of at least six feet from others while in the chapel.
d) When entering the reconciliation room, you may either sit face to face or kneel behind the screen. The penitent and priest must maintain a social distance of six feet while in the reconciliation room.
For your safety and others, if you are not feeling well or have been exposed to someone with the COVID-19 virus you should stay home. You must self-quarantine for 14 days if you have been exposed to the virus. These steps will help keep you and those around you safe and healthy.
