• Beginning in the 2014-15 school year, a school must ensure that each student, on entering 9th grade, indicates in writing an endorsement that the student intends to earn.
House Bill 5 (HB 5)
• Foundation Plan (22 credits)– NCISD requires 26 credits– Students graduating under the Foundation Plan (with no endorsement)
will be approved on a case-by-case basis during junior or senior year of high school.
• Foundation + Endorsement (30 credits) – this is the recommended graduation plan– STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)– Business & Industry– Public Service– Arts & Humanities– Multidisciplinary
Foundation – Statutory Requirements (NCISD - 26 credits)
• English Language Arts – 4 credits– English 1, English 2, English 3, Advanced English
• Math – 3 credits– Algebra 1, Geometry, Advanced Math
• Science – 3 credits– Biology, IPC or Advanced Science, Advanced Science
• Social Studies – 3 credits– US History, Government, Economics, World Geography OR World History OR
combined WH/WG course (NCISD does not offer the combined course)
• PE – 1 credit• Languages Other Than English – 2 credits in same language• Fine Arts – 1 credit• Electives – 5 credits (+4 additional classes)
