New to the big screen thisissue is: Whip It, DrewBarrymore’s first crack as be-ing a director. The movie stars EllenPage as a beauty queen try-ing to make a new image forherself. This brings me to ourconnection: How do I be me?

Being a teenager thesedays means: waking up earlyfor school, trying to stayawake during classes, balanc-ing jobs and extra curricularactivities, studying and a so-cial life. Somewhere in all thismess we are subconsciouslymaking decisions about our-selves that we don’t even re-alize. We see all the imageson TV and in magazines of thestick figure women and feel

that if we don’t look like thatthen there’s something wrongwith us.

Teenagers strive so hardto be accepted in life that welearn to develop our self imageinto that of what the world ex-pects, not what we truly are.

Don’t allow other peopleto live your life for you. Don’tlet someone make the wrongdecisions for you. Be you, anddo what is right for you.
