• Like many expats, when I arrived in Dubai few years ago which is the most populous city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates, I was surprised to discover that everybody especially young professionals used a regular services like maid, car washer or temporary cook. But to permanently get these service is very expensive. For example, An average maid salary is $400 in Dubai. A maid's visa can be obtained by the head of the family or a sponsor, whose salary is not less than $3000 a month or $2500 + accommodation. Government application fee for a maid’s residence visa is about $1400. Bachelors are not eligible to sponsor a maid. You can only sponsor a maid from limited countries: India, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and Indonesia.
