Hindu American Religious Institute “HARI” has been blessed with a congregation that has supported it unstintingly since the inception in 1975. That support has led to one of the most prominent Hindu landmarks in the capital of Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We thank the founders and senior members of HARI congregation for their vision and commitment. This legacy must now be nurtured and preserved for future generations. In 2004, the Board of trustees had initiated a “HARI Long Term Self Sufficiency” initiative. The Foundation for Enhancing Communities “TFEC” Harrisburg (formerly known as Harrisburg Foundation), under the direction of the HTF Coordinator, and Steering Committee.

What is “Sri Hanuman Tree”? It is a donor recognition sculpture designed by the famous artist “Sanford Werfel”, located on the

ground floor, just below the deity of Lord Rama. Based on the amount of donation, name (Children, Parents, Business or Yours) will be inscribed on

the leaves of the tree. You are welcome to donate any amount to HARI for any initiatives. Any donation above $2,500 over five

years towards HTF or Projects or General Donations or other Gift Instruments will be recognized in the tree.

Why does HARI need an Endowment (HARI Trust Fund “HTF”)?

Operating expenses go up each year as costs of our utilities, insurance, staff compensations, facility maintenance, and supplies rise. Operating income needs to be supplemented for maintain facility and expanding services.

To provide long term self-sufficiency and growth for HARI Temple.

HARI SCHOOL Namaste! HARI Sunday school is running full fledged and the classes are well attended.

School started on September 11, 2011. So far we have about 65 registrations. If you are planning to enroll your child to HARI School,

it is never too late. We are planning on a bus trip to the Shiva Vishnu Temple, MD, on November 20, 2011. All are

welcome to join. Please contact the Sunday school directors for further details. With the support of Sunday school parents and HARI members who sponsored lunch on the

occasion of their birthdays, wedding anniversaries and other happy occasions, we were able to provide lunch for all the Sundays last year. Our sincere thanks to all for their generous support.

This year, all Sundays are open for sponsoring lunch. Please contact Mr. Dharmesh Makwana (at 417-894-4959) to book the dates for sponsoring lunch or to explore different options to sponsor lunch.

MESSAGE FROM THE COMMITTEES

We are delighted with the response we received from the community for all the temple activities this year. We have completed many projects aimed at enhancing the facility for broader use. Among them were stone border, re-painting the temple’s downstairs hall (currently in progress), power-washing the outside of the temple and the downstairs floor, installation of a security camera’s & and surveillance system, TV’s on both upstairs & downstairs halls, installation of additional stage lights, electronic notice board and many more. The temple grounds have been attractively maintained to a great extent with enthusiastic participation by many volunteers.

In addition to the regularly celebrated functions, we introduced new events such as Balaji Abhishekam and Yagna. We are planning to perform Maha Laxmi Yagna in November. We conducted Maha Yagna for the temple’s 25th anniversary in July and Devi Maa Aradhana on the actual Eighth day of Navratri (Durga Ashtami). We also invited scholars, and artists for religious discourses and classical performances. There were nine renowned Gurus visiting HARI temple delivering six Kathas and Discourses.

We continued to focus on the long-term sustenance and growth of the organization through the “HARI Trust Fund” efforts. HARI held its second Gala this year to raise funds for the Trust Fund. We gave scholarships to five students to assist with their higher studies.

The temple doors are now open for more hours and with increased hours for HARI priest services. Priest services are now extended to your home seven days a week to fulfill all of your religious needs. With excellent services provided by priests as well as a growing group of new volunteers for the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees, we are convinced that the HARI Temple will continue to remain a vibrant presence serving the cultural and religious needs of the Hindu community in this region.

This year we will celebrate “Diwali” on Saturday, October 29, 2011. Please plan to attend and enjoy the function and seek the blessings of Lord Rama for “Good Health, Peace, and Prosperity.”

Summary of Board of Trust (BOT) meetings: In September BOT meeting, BOT members approved Mr. Anil Parikh, Mrs. Chimili Venkatadri, Dr. Mukund Kulkarni to serve on the nomination committee panel -2012 along with Mr. Ramesh Bathini and Mr. Virendra Trivedi. In September BOT Meeting, BOT members acknowledged new five Religious (Priest) Committee members. Members are Dr. Mukul Parikh, Mr. Deep Gupta, Mr. Ravi Venkatasubramanian, ex officio members - President and Senior Vice President. In September BOT meeting, BOT members approved to move money collected from new Life Memberships to the HARI Trust Fund. Each year, BOT will transfer 5% of the collected funds from the life memberships to an operational account as of Oct 30th.

Weekly Vishnu Sahastra Namam: Each Saturday at 6:00pm, followed by Aarti at 7:00pm.

Weekly Satsang and Hanuman Chalisa Recital: Each Saturday from 7:15pm to 8:15pm. Monthly Jain Swadhayay/Puja: First Sunday of each month from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, organized by the

Jain Samaj of South Central PA. Any changes to this schedule will be communicated through email.

Monthly Havan: Second Sunday of each month from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Any changes to this schedule will be communicated through email. Devotees who wish to sponsor the dinner prasad are requested to contact any of the HARI committee members. Upcoming Havan dates are: Sunday, November 13th and December 11th at 6pm.

Monthly Shri Satyanarayan Puja & Katha: Each full moon day (Purnima) from 7:00pm to 9:00pm,

seeking Lord’s blessings for good health, peace, and prosperity. A token donation of $21 per family is recommended. Any change to this schedule due to grahan (eclipse) will be communicated through email. Upcoming Katha dates are: Thursday, November 10th and Friday, December 9th at 7:05pm.

Shri Balaji Abhishekam - Saturday October 22nd, 2011, Saturday, November 26th and Saturday,

December 31st at 10am. Devotees are encouraged to participate in the Abhishekam. A token donation of $21 per family is recommended.
