HARI PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE

Happy Diwali and greetings from the PR committee,

The fall season is upon us and leaves are changing colors. Fall also reminds us of rebirth and is start of a period for reflecting. We are still enjoying the color change, and by the time the newsletter will be in your hands, most leaves would have floated to the ground. As fleeting this all may be, it is still a great experi-ence every year. Life is something similar! Our temple priests offer services covering life events from cele-brating birth to end of life. Hari offers a great support system to the community members. Call us if you need any support or help. Also, please continue to let us know how we are meeting the needs of our growing community.

The season also coincides with Diwali bringing in each of our homes festivities, feasts and celebrations with colorful lights. Enjoy the season and we hope to see you soon at the temple!

Best wishes,

Dr. Deepanker Tewari PR Committee Chair

A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMITTEE

Namaste…

Finally we are near the end of this year and inching closer to our Diwali Annakut and annual general body meeting day of November 14. Reflecting back to past 10 months, we are feeling great sense of satisfaction and achievement with another successful year at HARI. Throughout the year, the Executive Committee members were very busy coordinating and celebrating HARI programs and HARI facilitated programs. Along with busy schedule at HARI, the Executive Committee successfully organized “HARI Fair” in July and “5K Rakhi Run” in August. HARI also raised the donation to help the earth quake victims of Nepal and fund will be used to rebuild the school in Nepal with the help of a non-profit organization in the USA. This year, Anan-dam group for the senior members of our community was formed by a current board member Mr. Kirit Shah to celebrate the young at heart spirit of our seniors. Under the leadership of Dr. Deepanker Tewari, the PR Committee participated and represented HARI in community programs like Interfaith Conference and harmony walk. Throughout the year, Finance Chair, Ramesh Bathini and Treasurer Ayyappan Ganesan worked behind the scene in streamlining HARI accounting, banking, trust fund management and auditing process with help of HARI Trust Fund Coordinator Ravi Venkatasubramanian, CPA Kavita Shah, and office manager Tracy Horetsky. As promised in the beginning of the year, we focused on transparency and pub-lished HARI financial information and trust fund updates regularly through HARI Times.

As you all know, since past three years, we have undertaken major maintenance and building upgrade/renovation projects. In 2013, we replaced 20+ years old HVAC system with new brand named energy effi-cient system. Last year, we replaced decades old windows with new leak proof energy efficient windows with help of long time HARI devotee Mr. Subhodh Sharma. We also installed new decorative lighting and ceiling in the upstairs prayer hall in 2014. This year we had two major projects on our TO Do list; one, carpet replacement and two, addition of parking spaces for the convenience of devotees during major HARI events. We are proud to announce that we have closed the deal on purchase of new carpet. The carpet replace-ment project will commence immediately after the Diwali program and will be completed before the end of the year. However, we have suffered major setback in HARI parking lot project. After a year long Land Devel-opment Legal Process, we failed to achieve the desired outcome regarding the purchase of 3 acres lot from PA American Water Company for additional parking spaces. Considering the restrictions on land use im-posed by the Authority Having Jurisdiction, the purchase the neighboring 3 acre land will not be useful to our additional parking spaces project. However, we are working with Dawood Engineering to develop a plan for additional 45 parking spaces within existing HARI premises. With grace of Lord Rama, we are confident in success of these efforts in coming days.

We are very proud and thankful for all the volunteers who devoted their valuable time throughout the year in service of HARI despite social and professional responsibilities. We are also very thankful to you – the HARI Community for believing in us and for giving us this precious opportunity to serve you, HARI tem-ple and Lord Rama. On behalf of the executive committee members and the board of trustees, we wish you all Happy healthy peaceful and prosperous Diwali.

We thank the HARI community for offering a wonderful opportunity to serve Lord Rama and the commu-

nity and hope we have fulfilled your expectations.

If you have any suggestion for improvements of your institution, please contact any of the EC or BOT members or email us at [email protected]

Yours in service,

Mr. Sunil Desai Mr. Ramesh Parmar

Dear Students and Parents, Namaste!

Wish you all a Very Happy Deepavali and a Prosperous New Year!

We have almost completed two exciting months in the current school year. And lo and behold,

Deepavali lamps are almost twinkling in front of us. We started off with Lord Ganesha pooja

and recently, for the first time, we celebrated ‘Ravan Dahan.’ There’s nothing more satisfying

for than seeing our students enjoy these events and its cultural significance. We hope to con-

tinue to organize these important events in the future.

As promised in our previous message, we already have rolled out some of the exciting chang-

es and, as we move along, we plan to add more spiritual spice to our students’ Sunday morn-

ings.

Our diligent Hindi teachers have reported that the newly adopted curriculum has been very well

-received by both students and parents. Likewise, our committed Gujarati teachers, too, have

adopted standard textbooks to teach the language. But, that’s just half the job done. Our teach-

ers hardwork will only fructify, when you encourage your child to speak the language they are

learning – Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Telugu and Tamil. In fact, we’d suggest you to

keep aside a day of the week or a few hours on a specific day or a few minutes daily during

meals when you will only speak the language your child is learning in HARI School.

We plan to visit the Swaminarayan Temple, Robbinsville, NJ, April 24, 2016 for our annual field

trip. The idea behind field trip is to expose our students to a place of Hindu culture that is both

educative and enjoyable experience. This also is an exciting opportunity to make new friends

and develop camaraderie with HARI community. We will send out registration details shortly.

Some of the activities and events our students recently celebrated and enjoyed have been pos-

sible due to your active participation and volunteering. Please feel free to give your ideas and

suggestions to us so we can enhance students experience while they attend HARI School.

While your kids are taking classes, please seek out volunteer seva opportunities at the temple.

By doing seva, we will be setting an example for our kids to emulate.

Once again, enjoy the ‘festival of lights’ with your family and friends and May this light lead us

to spiritual enlightenment and May there be peace and harmony in the world.

Sincerely,

Dinesh R. Pai Vijay Varadarajan

End of the year is here. With the blessings of Lord Rama, and with your generous heart, HARI

accounts are strengthening year on year in operational and long term self-sufficiency aimed

Trust Fund accounts. However, HARI maintenance costs and capitol project needs are rising at

same rapid pace. With the advice and dedicated work of our talented community members, we

were able to strike a perfect balance between our income and expenses in Operational fund and

achieve growth in the long term Trust Fund account.

We would like to thank all the donors and also the dedicated volunteers who have helped us in

the financial planning and maintenance this year.

Below is the HARI Trust Fund status as of Oct 31, 2015.
