A seven member committee worked on voluntary basis to collect donations& support from locals to care for the children.

Six tutors were appointed to provide extra educational support.A cook & two wardens were hired to look after the children day and

night.Government schools in neighborhood provided admission for the

regular studies. After Tsunami demands were made on us to accommodate more

children & continue providing a better & long term service to the orphaned, displaced & underprivileged children in the East.

A kind philanthropist donated a valuable land for us to put up a permanent building.

SOME ADDITIONAL SERVICES THROUGH HARI CHILDREN’S HOME

Page 15: Hari Children Home

All the above activities are

undertaken by individual donations and generous support from the public and NGO.However due to the present economical and political context it’s very difficult to cover the cost of expenses which is Rs.4000/=(Srilankan rupees) per month.

In addition a large number of students (O/Levels&A/Levels)from IDP camps in Batticaloa are asking for our accommodation and educational support to prepare for their crucial examination. But we can manage only 25 such students.Nevertheless, since we are very much in wanting of financial support we are unable to promise them any good hopes.
