Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Book Fair
This week Mrs Blore will be holding a Book Fair in the Library. The
children will have an opportunity to view the books and make a
“Wish List” of their favourite books. Mrs Blore will be in the Library
before school and during first break to assist parents and students
with their purchases. The Book Fair will run Wednesday, Thursday
and Friday this week.
Willyama High School Transition
Last week our Year 6 students started their transition to high school
with a visit to Willyama High School. The children were very excited
about their “taster lessons” and are looking forward to the
upcoming visits over the next few weeks. We are hosting some high
school teachers who will do assessments on our students to assist
them to place our students in classes for next year. Can I ask that for
these visit the students wear correct summer uniforms.
Change of Routine
On Thursday the infants classes may have a change of staff member
to allow the staff to attend the funeral for Will Thomas. All classes
will be covered by teachers but it may not be their usual teacher.
Normal classes will resume following the funeral.
Thank You
A huge thank you to the P&C, staff and students who attended the
Halloween Disco on Monday night. The costumes were very scary
and the children had a great time. A good fundraiser for the P&C.
Kindergarten Orientation
Last Wednesday we conducted our first Kindergarten transition for
our new students for 2020. There were some very excited and happy
students, not forgetting the happy parents. The children and parents
did a tour around the school and got to experience the wonderful
food that is available in the canteen. A huge thank you to the ladies
in the canteen for the excellent food.
Donations
Don’t forget we are taking donations of toys for the Ulysses Toy Run
on 29th November. We are also collecting donations for the P&C
hamper to be drawn at Presentation Day on 6th December 2019.
Disappointed
I was very disappointed to be told by Mr Hopcraft that our apricot
trees had been stripped of fruit over the weekend. The fruit was still
not ripe and Angela had some wonderful recipes organised in
readiness for a bumper crop. If anyone knows anything about this, I
would love to hear from them.
Thanking You

The BRAVE Program is an online program for the treatment of anxiety in young people. It was developed
by a team of researchers from the University of Queensland, Griffith University and the University of
Southern Queensland, and has been specifically designed to teach young people the skills they need to reduce
anxiety and to cope with stressful situations. The BRAVE Program is based on Cognitive-Behavioural
Therapy (CBT) and has been running in Australia for over 13 years. Therapy techniques used in this program
include: relaxation training, identification of emotions and thoughts, positive self-talk, coping skills, problem
solving and graded exposure. The BRAVE program was converted into a self-directed therapy program (BRAVE Self-Help), which is now freely available to all Australian young people, aged 8-17 years
old, and their parents. The program is suitable for all types of anxiety. There are four different programs available: one for children aged 8-12 years, one for teenagers aged 12-17 years, and one for parents of
children and teenagers of these age groups, respectively. If you are interested in completing the BRAVE Program
