When students are safe, respectful learners, they contribute towards creating a productive classroom environment. Congratulations students for this terrific improvement. Students who continuously follow our school rules will receive an invitation to a special PBL Reward Day. Recently there has been an increasing number of students riding their bikes to school. This is great! Parents and Carers can we please ensure that students have helmets and are aware of the bike safety strategies particularly when riding on or across the road. Thank you to the Friends of Ashcroft and Ashcroft staff for organising and running our Halloween Disco. Students looked amazing and had a great time. It was delightful to meet all our new Kindergarten 2018 students this week. What a very exciting time preparing for “Big School”. Students were settled and happily participated in a variety of fun learning activities. In student Orientation Packs we have included a Social Story about starting school at Ashcroft, please take the time to read this with your child over the holidays. It is wonderful to see so many students participate in competitive sport through the Departments PSSA program. It is important for our children to value a healthy lifestyle and sportsmanship. Can I remind all parents to ensure that your child pays their $2.50 every Friday. Next year students will be asked to pay at the beginning of each term to make it easier for families instead of paying weekly. Ms Loueizi Principal Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be a Learner School Swimming Scheme Reminder: The School Swimming Scheme begins next week, Monday 6 th November. Students will be walking with teachers daily to the Michael Wenden Aquatic Centre, Miller. Please make sure your child brings their towel, swimmers, sunscreen and a hat. Please Note: If you have paid a deposit, full payment is required on or before Friday 3 rd November. PSSA Fees Reminder Students participating in PSSA Sports must pay $2.50 per week unless PSSA is cancelled due to weather conditions. If your child is absent you must still pay the weekly fee. Can I remind all families owing PSSA sport fees to finalise their payments to ensure the program can continue to operate throughout 2018.

What’s happening in our Community

Did you know: 'Reading aloud to young children, particularly in an engaging manner, promotes emerging literacy and language development and supports the relationship between child and parent'. Paint Liverpool REaD is an early literacy initiative to promote the importance of reading to young children. GoGo Gecko is the mascot for Paint Liverpool REaD and says "Share stories. Talk, sing, read and play with your child everyday. From birth". Arabic Women's Group Run by an Arabic speaking woman, this group runs every Monday from 9.30am-12.30pm and child minding is provided. By joining the group, women will have a chance to have a break in a welcoming environment and learn ways to cope with stress. It runs from The Liverpool Womens Resource Centre - 23 Sheriff St Ashcroft (across the road from the school). Contact Nikki on 9607 7536.
