Go Viral By Using Stories jacomaraisdotcom.wordpress.com /2014/10/03/go-viral-by-using-stories/ Join Our Traffic Club (Time Sensitive Promotion On Now) This is the last of the articles on how to go viral, and we have left probably the most overlooked method for last. People have been telling stories for thousands of years. Stories are used for entertainment, to convey concepts and to teach lessons among other things. The story of the Trojan Horse for example has been told countless times through generations and has a wealth of lessons in it. Just like that a good story can make your work go viral if you can come up with a great story. Have you ever had a friend tell you of great service he got somewhere. Usually this will take the form of a story and he will ad a tail here and there to make the service he got sounds even better. If he post this on Facebook a lot of people will see and probably share this story, and that is how a story can go viral. No wonder that stories stand the test of time, because they get shared, either around the campfire hundreds of years ago, or on Facebook today. Let’s look at a good example. Subway used the Jarod story to great effect. A guy that loses tons of weight by just eating Subway and nothing else, wow! What a great story and it spread like wildfire. Thanks to that story millions of people that wouldn’t know about Subway now knows. Have you ever seen the Panda cheese ad? Very funny, in short a kid in grocery store asks for Panda cheese and his dad says there is no more space in the trolley. Next thing a panda rocks up, throws the trolley over and says “There’s always space for Panda Cheese”. Now this is a bizarre ad, but people like to share it with their friends because it is so funny and off the wall. The most important thing about this “story” however is; you can’t tell it without mentioning Panda Cheese. That is what makes it so effective. Evian had a very good ad about very cute babies doing all sorts of funny things, but it had nothing to do with mineral water, hence it was a big flop. So , you can see how effective stories can be in getting something to go viral. It is in our DNA to share stories, so use it to good effect. Just make sure that it is impossible to tell the story to someone else without your brand or product being mentioned. Do this effectively and you will see results you never thought were possible.
