Future of Work

“IF NOT, WHY NOT?”

It’s the question that all Australian State and Federal Governments are currently asking about workplace flexibility in the public sector. The NSW Government committed to having 100% of senior executive positions being flexible by 2019, while Victoria, Queensland and South Australia are also developing their goals and strategies to release old, outdated, models of thinking when it comes to the 9 – 5.

ATTENDEES WILL BE PROVIDED WITH:

- A roadmap to developing your own department’s transformation to a flexible work environment - Clear understanding of how transforming your workforce is not a one-size fit all undertaking - Developed strategies to foster trust and promote better communications with your dispersed teams - Tools to protect your employees’ health, safety and mental wellbeing - Best practice examples of how to manage your flexible and mobile team without increasing undue risk

We look forward to seeing you there in November.

Derek PatersonChair Future of Work Sumimit 2017 Former Director | GovDC & Marketplace Services, NSW Public Identity Program, NSW Department of Finance, Services and Innovaton

STREAMS

PEOPLE TECHNOLOGY

In the modern working world, your team is no longer confined to the desks in your immediate vicinity. The staff could be on the road, working from home, in another state, in the office, or a combination of options. Learning how to effectively manage a dispersed team is a skill both current and future leaders will need to help foster a collaborative and productive workplace.

Providing staff members with the opportunity to work from home once a week isn’t enough to begin implementing a flexible workplace policy. Staff require easy access to information and systems. Ensuring your ICT infrastructure is reliable enough to support employee roductivity is a key first step towards developing a flexible workforce

KEY FOCUSES KEY FOCUSES

This stream looks to address the inherent challenges the public sector faces in the transformation to a flexible and mobile workforce, focusing on practical and transferable knowledge from success departmental transformations.

This stream examines the ICT infrastructure demands a flexible and mobile workforce creates, and highlights the key challenges and obstacles most often overlooked in successfully achieving a digital workplace transformation.
