Religious Life of the School News

Mrs Nikki Lysaght: Assistant Principal Religious Education

What is Peacefulness? Peacefulness is to feel peaceful. It is an inner sense of calm that can come in moments of silent gratitude or prayer. It is a way of getting very quiet and looking at things so you can understand them. It is facing your fears and then letting them go. It is trusting that things will be all right.

You are practising Peacefulness when you … Create inner peace, with a regular time to pray or meditate.

Give you worries to God and ask God’s help in solving them.

Look for the good in others.

Appreciate differences.

FREE DRESS DAY & Disco for Blind Eye Ministries

Friday 20 October

For the past 3 years one of our dads, Roby Curtis, has blessed us with his amazing singing abilities as he has led us in worship during our whole school masses. And we are so grateful to Roby who gives up his time for us! Roby is the Director of a local ministry called Blind Eye. Blind Eye Ministries is a grass-roots Catholic ministry devoted to journeying with the most vulnerable in our society. They achieve this one

person at a time. Current areas of focus are: Homeless, Indigenous and Pro-life issues. For more information on the ministry, check out their website: https://blindeyeministries.com/#our-story. Roby works tirelessly for this ministry, as well as co-writing many of Emmanuel worship’s songs (which we sing here at St Mark’s). Their new album is due to be released on Friday 2 December (check it out on iTunes). Please come along in sensible free dress with closed in DANCING

shoes this Friday 20 October to enjoy a lunchtime disco in Mercy Hall. Please bring along a gold coin donation for free dress—and another gold coin donation for the disco—which will go toward supporting Blind Eye Ministries this Christmas.

You can email me a photo, their name and rank and when and where they served as well as the names of your children/classes, that would be awesome.

If you also have any memorabilia that we can use, slouch hat, medals, etc., I promise it will be well cared for. We will invite your children to contribute these items to the sacred space.
