MINUTES Minutes for Sept 15, 2012 Four Corners Weavers Guild

Meeting was called to order by Pres. Anne Hansen in Pagosa Springs. One guest, Pam Davis was introduced.

Old business

A thank you card from Pam Marshall to the guild for her award at the La Plata County Fair was passed around. The remembrance basket for Kris Dixon is ongoing and available for gifts for her. The sale of yarn from Zelpha Gentry's estate at the July meeting made $1,700 and the barn and garage sale made an additional $3,000. Treasure Elaine Bakkenson reports we have a balance of $1,900.13 in the guild account. Kathy Sehnert passed out new membership lists and it is also available on the web site.

New business

The November meeting will be in Cortez at the electric company building and will be our Christmas pot luck and gift exchange for those who wish to participate. Our service project of scarves, hats and gloves for the women's shelter will be collected for distribution also. A proposal by Jere Lard to give Anna Kinney an honorary guild membership was discussed favorably but for lack of a quorum was not voted on. Discussion about future meeting places and ideas and suggestions for programs, speakers and workshops should be passed on to VP Kathy Sehnert. The business meeting was followed by show and tell, a pot luck lunch and a tour of Mary Wall's studio and a workshop on cob web felting by Mary.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Well, it’s getting to be that time of year already! I can’t believe that it is almost time for our annual Christmas gift/goody exchange, it’s always so fun to see what everyone has done. This always seems to me like the kick off to the beginning of the holiday season! Hope a lot of you have had time to make up a scarf or hat to donate to our service project as this is the time of year we do this and it would be fun to have a good turnout for a good cause! Looking forward to seeing all of there! Anne

And be sure to start working on items to put in the county fairs next year – time always sneaks up on us! Anna Kinney met with us in Farmington to review and update categories for woven and spun entries to the fair. The new sections should allow people to enter more items than they have in the past. From Linda Smith: Not a whole lot new here on the spinning/weaving side of things. Have been trying to get all the angora goats shorn before winter sets in, but a thousand things keep getting in the way. We do have a couple of Wensleydale ewes and a beautiful ram for sale along with several angora goats, both doe kids and buck kids. If anyone knows of anyone who is interested, please call us at 970-884-0502. Linda and Jim Smith

The printed membership address list was printed and distributed at the September meeting. We have 35 members. The lists will be available at the next meeting; however, if you are not able to get one then, let me know and I'll send one in the mail to you.
