8th Grade Final Exam

Choose one of the following projects for your final:

1. Fashion DesignFor this project, you will be coming up with a brand new line for a major clothing company. It can be athletic wear or more fashion oriented. You will be required to come up with designs for at least 4 different pieces of clothing (hats, shirts, jackets, pants, dresses, socks, shoes, etc.). This new line should be connected in the images that it uses as well as the color scheme. Keep your ideas simple, but be sure that it is something that the company would want people wearing.

2. Album Cover DesignFor this project, you will be designing a cover for your favorite band or singer. This album must in someway connect to the musician’s music without using any images from their previous albums. Your design CANNOT have people, but must have the artists name and your made up title for the album incorporated into the design. The design needs to be cleanly drawn and the text should be traced from a word document. Your final design needs to be in a square format.

3. Video Game Character DesignFor this project, you will be redesigning a classic video game character. This character must be an animated character (no CGI ie. HALO). The character you design should be the next step in their evolution. In changing your character, you need to make at least 5 distinct changes while also coming up with a brand new color scheme. Your design should be colored smoothly and cleanly and should have a simple background that does not take away from the overall picture.

4. Logo DesignFor this project, you will be updating the logo for a current company or business. Looking at their current logo, you will take elements of what works and add on to them to create a new design that keeps in line with the company’s style. The logo can come from stores, restaurants, clothing, games, etc. The purpose of your logo is to draw potential buyers into purchasing your product. Therefore your logo needs to stand out in both size and design, use emphasizing colors, and contain the company name.

5. Photography (Only 4 per class)For this project, you will be using the skills you have learned in class this quarter to create a series of photographs that show the following emotions: Jealousy, Rage, Boredom, Sympathy, and Passion. However, the pictures that are taken can only contain objects found in nature, NO people and NO man-made objects. Photographs can be in color or B&W, must be well lit and in focus, and must be clear in their meaning. Finished prints will be printed and mounted by Mr. Shadwell.
