About Athens Country Club Situated among the beautiful rolling hills of Southeastern Ohio, the Athens Country Club offers a unique golf experience, outdoor pool, bathhouse, and concession area. The clubhouse provides a lounge and dining in both casual and formal settings. It also has a beautiful deck overlooking the ninth hole. The Athens Country Club was founded in 1921 and enhanced by renowned golf course architect Donald Ross in 1925. The 6,280-yard nine-hole course is where Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus first played together in 1958 on Dow Finsterwald Day. In addition to the scenic and challenging course, the club offers social events, fine and casual dining, a swimming pool for the family, a driving range, a Pro Shop, meeting and banquet space, and opportunities for golf clinics and lessons, including a ladies clinic and a junior clinic. The club also provides numerous golf competitions, including Friday Night golf, Tuesday Night League, a member-guest tournament, Nine Wine & Dine scramble, and night golf. The club’s golf pro and manager, Todd Williams, is available for private lessons and great advice on how to fine-tune your game! Social: Entitles an individual or family* use of all amenities except golf.

Children of Social members may participate in the Junior Golf program for an additional per-child fee.

Clubhouse: Entitles an individual or family* use of clubhouse amenities. Excludes golf and swimming.

Non-Resident Memberships

Non-Resident Limited Golf: Entitles an individual or family* use of all amenities, including nine 18-hole rounds of play per season. After nine rounds, the current greens fee rate applies.**

Non-Resident Unlimited Golf: Entitles an individual or family* use of all amenities, including unlimited golf.****To qualify, the member’s permanent residence must be outside a 50-mile radius of Athens, Ohio, and the member must reside at said residence a minimum of nine months each year.

Golf MembershipsYoung Professional: Different prices apply for these age range groups: Age 18-32; Age 24-32; Age 33-37; Age 38-39. Entitles an individual or family* use of all amenities.

Individual Golf and Social: Age 40 and over: Entitles an individual or one spouse golfing privileges and family* members use of all other amenities.

Family Golf and Social: Age 40 and over: Entitles a family* use of all amenities.

Tuesday/Saturday Golf: Entitles an individual or family* use of golf course and clubhouse on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Tuesday/Saturday Golf/Social: Entitles an individual or family* use of all amenities with limited golf on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Junior Golf: For children and high school students.

Alumni: Offered to Ohio University graduates who live outside a 60-mile radius of Athens. This membership entitles an individual to eight 18-hole rounds of golf [guests count toward the eight rounds], greens fees and cart fees additional; also includes dining and swimming pool privileges. Corporate: Special terms for businesses sponsoring up to five employees.

Special Memberships

*The term “family” is defined as a legally married couple and/or a couple who are in a significant-other relationship as defined by the significant-other policy, and their children who are under 18 years of age or are full-time students under the age of 24. It shall be the responsibility of the family member to provide necessary documentation to verify full-time student status. In addition to legally married couples, couples in a significant-other relationship and eligible children, “family” may also include “other family member(s)” who are immediate family members living on a permanent basis under the same roof as the primary member. “Other family member(s)” may only use the dining and swimming pool amenities at the Club, with these privileges also being dependent upon the membership category.
