How it works

Dehydratingfoodisanancientmethodofpreservingfood.Itisagentle,naturalprocesswhichremovesmoisturefromfood.

Usingacontrolledheattemperature,airiscirculatedfromthetopoftheunittoeachofthefivetraysandbase.Thismethodofdryingsealsintheflavoursandnutrientsofthefood,leavingahighfoodnutrientandvitamincontent.

Storage of dried food

Dryingfresh,ripefruitandvegetablesallowsyoutoenjoytheseluxuriesallyearround.Storingoffoodiseasyandtakesuplittlestoragespace.Driedfoodshavealongershelflifeofapproximately3-6monthswhenstoredinair-tightstoragejarsdependingontypeoffoodandclimate.

No preservatives added

FruitandvegetablesdriedusingyourFooddehydrator,willdifferincolourandappearancefromproducepurchasedfromHealthfoodstoresandsupermarkets.Thisisduetothesestoresaddingartificialcolouringandpreservativestotheproduce.WhereasyourFooddehydratorusesnopreservativesandonlynaturaladditives.

1.Arrangethefoodonthedryingracks,ensuringthepiecesoffoodarenotquitetouching,toallowairtocirculatefreely.Placedryingracksontothebase,ensuringthatallracksaresecurelypositionedinthegrooves.

2.Placethelidonthetopdryingrack.3.Plugthepowercordintoa230/240VAC

poweroutlet,andpushthepowertothedesiredheatsetting.

Use quality food Bestresultsareachievedwhenqualityfoodisused.Selectproduceatthepeakofripeness,colourandflavour,forthehighestnutritionalcontent.Youcandryoverripeproducesuccessfully,aslongasyouremoveanyspoiledareas.

Wash foodFoodshouldbewashedanddriedthoroughly,removingsoftorspoiledareas.Becertainthatyourhands,cuttingutensilsandfoodpreparationareasareclean.

Cut food uniformlyProducecanbeshredded,slicedordiced,5mmslicesarebestforefficientdrying.

Variation in drying timesCheckproducedryingcharttimescanvary.Dryingtimesareaffectedbythesizeoftheload,thicknessoftheslicedproduce,humidity,airtemperatureandthemoisturecontentofthefooditself.(Therefore,broaddryingtimeshavebeengiveninthedryingtables).

NOTE:Thefooddryermaybeleftonovernight,howeverthismaynotachieveoptimumresult.Werecommendtherotationofdryingracksevery3-4hoursthroughoutdryingtimetoachieveevendrying.

Fruit Roll TraysNon-stickbakingpapercanbecuttofitrocks,ifyouwantmorerolluptrays.

Rotate RacksRotaterackswhiledryingfoods,thisensuresevendryingofproduceandaircirculation.

Testing for drynessBesuretolettheproducecoolbeforetestingfordryness.Totestfordryness,cutapieceopen–thereshouldbenovisiblemoistureinside.

Uneven dryingIfyounoticeunevendrying,rotatethedryingracks,i.e.movethebottomracktothetopandthetopracksdown.

Storage of Dried Foods

•Containersshouldbemoistureandinsectfree.

•Glassjarswithmetalscrewlidsareidealcontainers.Foodstoredinplasticbags,shouldbestoredinsideaninsectproofcontainer.

•Thestorageareashouldbecool,dryandasdarkaspossible.Theidealtemperatureforstoringdehydratedfoodis5-20ºC.

•Driedfoodcanbecoveredinplasticwrapandstoredinacontainerinthefreezer.

ImportantCheckformoisturebyshakingthecontentofyourstoragecontainerseveraltimesduringthefirstweekafterthefoodhasbeendried.Ifmoistureappearsontheinside,thefoodhasnotbeensufficientlydriedandshouldbereturnedtothefooddehydrator,forfurtherdrying.Donotplacewarmproduceintostoragecontainers,ascondensationwillformcausingmouldandmildew.Allowfoodtocoolonracksbeforestoring.

Rehydrating Dried Foods

Rehydrationistheprocessofputtingthemoisturebackintofoodsthathavebeendried.•Driedfoodscanbepartiallyrehydratedbysoakinginwaterorcooking.•Toconservethenutritionalvalueoftherehydratedfood,usetheliquidremainingaftersoakingorcooking,intherehydrationrecipes.
