Project Update
March 14th, 2011
• Opened both Northbound lanes 2/22• All signals now functioning but may require
some final adjustments• Final striping and signage work remains• Work continues on the project to complete
outstanding items

Cullen Parkway
Phase II – Mary’s Creek Bypass to SH35
• Completed paving of residential driveways• Continued sidewalk installation and brick
paver installation• Street signs placed• Continued traffic signal cable boring and
installation• 4-lanes of traffic expected by April 1
Dixie Farm Road
• Held Pre-construction meeting• Issued NTP to Calco Construction Co.• Contractor started site mobilization• Began installation of detour and warning signs• Centerpoint Gas notified the city that all gas
lines have been relocated or abandoned• Utility relocation continues
Walnut Reconstruction
Construction phase II – Veterans Dr to Pearland Parkway
• Conducted final inspection of landscape, irrigation, ponds and outfall
• Received final deductive balancing change order, returning approx. $277,000 to the project
• Engineers working on as-built/record drawings
• Closeout underway
Magnolia Road
Construction Phase III – Morgan to Harkey and CR 89
• Contractor completed remediation of settled subgrade areas east of FM 1128
• Sanitary sewer modeling is completed and under review
• All major outstanding issues have been resolved or are near resolution
• CenterPoint installed Cullen Parkway street lights
Magnolia Road
• Visually inspected Aluminum Box culvert with the manufacturer’s engineer to validate the integrity of the structure
• Green Armor installation began• Substantial completion scheduled for this
month – weather permitting
Town Ditch Phase III
• Returned plan review of 100% plans with drainage updates to the engineer for revisions
• Traffic counts and noise measurements completed for Noise Impact Analysis; Engineer working on draft report submission
• ROW acquisition underway – 61 of 65 parcels acquired, 4 in condemnation
Bailey Road (Veterans to FM1128)
• Foundation piers completed February 25th
• Excavation of all three detention/mitigation ponds complete
• Completed CenterPoint service application with all required survey and power requirement data
• Reviewing Building access control options and costs
Hillhouse Road Service Center
• Final Change Order routed for signature• Addressing minor warranty issues as they arise• Closing out project
Recreation and Natatorium Center
• Monthly design meeting to review progress• Met with Parks and Recreation staff regarding
field construction, site layout, operations of fields during storm event
• Reviewed Developer agreement and potential addition of two lanes of CR 403 from Stone Rd to Max Rd
• Engineer worked on comparison of PER items and costs with current cost estimates
Sports Complex at Max Road
• Filter study work completed, letter report submitted
• Preferred filter system will work hydraulically
• Revised proposal from consultant for final design under review
Longwood WWTP Rehabilitation
• Awarded design contract to Binkley & Barfield• Held design kick-off meeting to review scope of
services, the specifics of the plant site and equipment and coordinate with plant operations for on-site activities
Barry Rose WWTP Rehabilitation
• Orange Street has been closed to westbound traffic between SH 35 and Mykawa to begin the installation of utilites
• Met with TxDOT to resolve the conflict at the intersection of Orange and SH 35
• 6” waterline installation on Mykawa complete• Continued coordination with the utility
companies
Orange Street
• Contaminated soils area at FM518 – Cost of alternative materials is within AFA
• Working with TxDOT to address local business concerns
• Submitted for USACE permit for low water crossing• Mitigation plans completed; waiting on USACE
permit• All utilities have been relocated along SH35 with the
exception of the contaminated soil area
SH35 – BW8 to FM518
Installing box culverts at SH 35 and Town Ditch
• Utility relocates and coordination ongoing• Driveway culverts on west bound lanes
completed except Kirby• Place new pavement from FM 521to Clear
Creek Bridge• Lime treatment and cement base from Clear
Creek Relief bridge to Kirby
FM 2234 Widening
• Cabinet box, controller and signal heads delivered to contractor site
• Bollards installed and painted• CenterPoint starting pole adjustments for
safety
Interim Traffic Signal Installation –Mykawa Road at Brookside Road
• Held final walk-through• Continued working through warranty items,
Fire Marshal’s issues, and Architectural Barrier issues
• Furniture began arriving• Open House 4/2, 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
Fire Station #5
• Building permit issued• Continued site work• Reviewed submittals• Utilities are being installed
Fire Station #6
• HGAC grant application has been submitted• Staff has reviewed 60% design plans and
specs • Working to advertise the project once the
HGAC grant is approved
Pearland Gateway – Project Stars
• Staff reviewed Engineer’s proposal• Engineer will revise proposal for project design• Contract will be presented to CC in late March or
early April
Hatfield Basin Trunk Sewer
Far Northwest Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements
• Staff met with current equipment manufacturer to review equipment failures
• Awaiting proposal from decanter equipment manufacturer on equipment upgrades and repairs
• Irrigation and landscaping ongoing• Final clean-up in progress• Streetlight installation completed
McHard Road (Country Place to Cullen)
McHard Road (Soundwall Construction)
• CenterPoint installed new transmission lines along north side of McHard in order to de-energize and remove lines on the south side.
• North side wall placement complete with the exception of Sound Fighter gate installation
• Majority of south side mow strip, column, and panel placement complete
• Waiting on utility relocation to complete construction
Detention Pond• Pond B approximately 80% complete• Hauling activities and fill placement at
designated fill sites continued• City staff finalized pump configuration• Waiting for engineer to complete plan
revisions
Cowart Creek Diversion
Diversion Ditch• Conoco Phillips issued NTP• Veterans closure end of March – 4-6 Weeks• CR100 closure early to mid-April• 90% design plans for N/S ditches under
review
Cowart Creek Diversion
• Continuing work on Interview Room Recording System– New cameras were installed in two rooms for a three
week test period• CenterPoint replaced a breaker in their circuit
feeding the facility and no power surge events have been recorded since that replacement
• HVAC system seems to have not had any complications since this replacement
Public Safety Building
• Continued to work with Contractor on warranty issues with epoxy flooring
• Working to complete Windstorm Certification
Animal Control Expansion
• Additional survey and adjacent project plan information forwarded to architect
• Moving forward with design contract amendment – Remove Ryan Acres segment from bid package– Add Centennial Park to Magnolia segment
Trail Connectivity
30” Waterline Interconnect
• Installation of waterline complete with the exception of the Clear Creek crossing
• 8,924 feet of waterline has been installed• The contractor installed 1,829 feet of the 20”
distribution waterline from the Alice Street Water Plant along McHard Road to Old Alvin
• Fuqua line and meter station underway• Clear Creek crossing to begin in March• CoH 72” line scheduled for completion in June 2011

• Preload has poured concrete for roof of GST• Preload began wire wrap pre-stress and applied
shotcrete layers on GST• Industrial TX replaced the existing 12”

South SH 35 Interim Lift Station at Industrial Drive
• Information provided by pipeline company reps at initial field meeting has triggered a second look at installing a gravity sewer line instead of the interim lift station.
• All elevations and pipe sizes are now confirmed and plans are being revised
• New line items will be negotiated with David Wight for installation of gravity sewer section
• Revisions will result in a deductive Change Order
• Contract for PER services awarded by Council

• TxDOT Reimbursement CostsSubmitted to TxDOT for their consideration in determining the reimbursement amount for operations and maintenance associated with theintersections of access-controlled state highways.
