See, Hear, Touch, Smell and Taste the Exciting Springtime Exhibits and Events

at the 37th Annual Macy’s Flower Show New York, NY (March 15, 2011) – Macy’s encourages visitors to roll up their sleeves and get into the action at the 37th Annual Flower Show. With two weeks of festive events ranging from cooking demonstrations to floral arranging, children and adults alike are urged to engage their five senses and participate in the fun-filled proceedings that are sure to entertain the whole family! These storewide events begin Sun., March 27 and continue through Sat., April 9, 2011. Following are some highlights of the events currently on schedule*. Sunday, March 27

Main Floor 11a.m.– Listen to the famous New York Suwa Taiko Association: The Thunder Drummers, as Macy’s cuts the ribbon to kick off the 37th Annual Flower Show! Those who make a purchase of $100 or more on Flower Show Opening Day will receive a pair of tickets to see a Carnegie Hall presentation in April (while supplies last). Customers can also check out the Japanese Garden presented by Carnegie Hall’s Japan NYC Festival on the Main Floor. Stop by the Visitor Center on the balcony level to collect a

free pass to tour Carnegie Hall (limited quantities are available-vouchers are distributed on a first come, first serve basis).

Broadway Boulevard Noon- The returning fan favorite event is back in full effect! Petacular Fair will take place outside the store on Broadway from noon until 2p.m. Animal lovers are encouraged to register their pets to participate in the annual fashion show and compete to win the one-and-only GRAND PETACULAR 2011 Trophy which will be presented at 2p.m. at the Macy’s Conservatory in the middle of the square.

Dresses on 4 Noon– Customers are invited to grab a girlfriend and head to our Dress department to catch informal modeling of season's newest, floral-inspired dresses.

Women’s on 3 1p.m.- Macy’s treats customers to live jazz while they shop the collections for Men on 3, and a spring-inspired woodland trio while they shop the collections for Women on 3.

Cellar Kitchen 1p.m.- Celebrate the new Showtime series, The Borgias with a Borgias-themed tablescape and a cooking demo hosted by Macy’s Culinary Council Chef Todd English; Macy’s Culinary Council Chef Todd English on March 27 at 1p.m. Chef English will prepare Cibreo, a classic Italian dish inspired by Rodrigo Borgia, otherwise known as Pope Alexander VI.

Monday, March 28

Fine China on 8 1p.m.– Michael Gaffney, director of the New York School of Flower Design and author of Design Star will show you how to create dazzling floral designs in just minutes!

Tuesday, March 29

Cellar Kitchen

1p.m.- Nicole Friday, chef and owner of The Cupcake Craze, hosts a pastry demo which is sure to bake her way into the hearts of dessert lovers. Viewers will learn how to create the same goodies at home.

Wednesday, March 30

Fine China on 8 1p.m.- Fresh Home Magazine Senior Editor Rachael Liska and Online Editor Rachel DeSchepper will demonstrate how to use flowers to make a small space light and airy, energize a bland rental, and give undefined areas personality and purpose in their intriguing presentation.

Thursday, March 31

Cellar Kitchen 1p.m.- Hope Haskell Jones, baker and owner of Hope, Faith & Gluttony Bakery - an online bakery with classic specialties such as Tollhouse pie and cheesecake that can be shipped locally or nationally, hosts a tasty cooking demonstration for foodies and fans a like.

Friday, April 1

Cellar Kitchen 1p.m – Clark Taggart, manager of Colonial Williamsburg’s Floral Design Studio at the Williamsburg Inn, invites customers to learn how to mix flowers and greenery to create simple yet elegant arrangements in the distinctive Williamsburg style.

Saturday, April 2

Kids on 7 Noon – Macy’s invites customers to the monthly Reading Circle which will feature Bryan Collier, author of many kids books including Cherish Today: A Celebration of Life's Moments. Bryan will host a private reading of his book and after guests will have the opportunity to receive an autographed copy with any $25 kids purchase.

1p.m. – How does Anne L. Warren, owner of the legendary Cupcake Café, whip up her decadent treats ? With the help of KitchenAid of course! See how she creates some of her elaborately-frosted favorites with this informative cooking demonstration.

Juniors on 4 2p.m. – Macy’s encourages customers to attend a hot, runway fashion show featuring the latest prom looks hosted by Z100. After the show, they can enjoy informal modeling, shop with a style guru, get tips on the best new prom makeup, and how to create prom updos. 2:30p.m.- Dylan Lauren, CEO & founder of Dylan’s Candy Bar, will join the Prom party and, for everyone who’s passionate about chocolate, candy and all things sweet, show you how to create a spectacular and 100% edible floral bouquet!

Monday, April 4

Fine China on 8 1p.m. – Renowned floral designer Ritsuko Daye Deura, owner of Flowers by Daye, will demonstrate how to create simple yet elegant arrangements with a dash of Asian influence.

Tuesday, April 5

Cellar Kitchen 1p.m. – Macy’s hosts Amy DiGiulio, owner of Sugar Flower Cake Shop and creator of masterpiece cakes by using ingredients found only at NYC's Greenmarkets and local farms. She will demonstrate how to make one of her famous cakes that has been featured on the Style Network and in Martha Stewart Living magazine.

Wednesday, April 6

Fine China on 8 1p.m. – Tina Memos and Jose Saabedra from 1-800-FlOWERS.COM invite customers to witness centerpiece artistry! With their step-by-step guidance, viewers will learn how to create a classic centerpiece that will add a special touch to any tabletop décor.

Thursday, April 7

Cellar Kitchen 1p.m. – Sisters Haley and Lauren Fox, co-owners of Alice’s Tea Cup TBD

Friday, April 8

Fine China on 8 1p.m. – Julian Velasco, curator of the Bonsai Collection at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and of the C.V.Starr Bonsai Museum hosts an intriguing and informative Q&A session about the care and training of flowering Bonsai.

Saturday, April 9

Cellar Kitchen 1p.m. – Executive Chef Rhys Lewis of Colonial Williamsburg will present a dynamic cooking presentation featuring classic American cuisine inspired by the flavors of the Chesapeake region.

Kids on 7 2p.m - Rediscover the Mythical World of Narnia! To celebrate the release of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Blu-ray & DVD , Macy’s is offering a special gift -– with any $25 purchase from the Kids department, customers will receive a copy of the Blu-Ray & DVD set, and kids can visit a special Chronicles of Narnia-themed crafts station. *Event information is subject to change or cancellation.
