This book was created in May 2010 specifically for Professor Claudine Jaenichen in part as a requirement for

Intro to Information Design at Chapman University.

All design, photography, typography, and productionwas created by Laura Brewer and inspired by the Martha Stewart Living Everyday Food collection.

The “recipes” found in this book were created in the first season of the legendary CBS television show, MacGyver.

Fonts used include attributes of Bodoni and Akzidenz Grotesk.

Locate a conveniently placed barrel of potatoes and choose one of the largest potatoes.

Choose which enemy car you would like to stall and go around to the tail end.

Place the full potato in the engine exhaust pipe.

Run away quickly to receive optimum head-start.

Completely open map until flat.

Slide map halfway under locked door.

Place open pocket knife in key-hole.

Push knife forward until the key drop is heard.

Slide map back towards yourself.

Claim key, unlock door, and make your escape.

5 minutes difficulty level: medium water bomb

Find an attractive woman, who just happens to be, carrying a packet of liquid cold capsules.

Locate stocked cabinet of explosive materials that includes sodium metal.

Break apart the cold capsule.

Fill capsule with sodium metal to explodea man-sized hole in a cement wall.

Re-attach the two ends of the capsule.

Fill seal able glass container three quarters of the way with water. Place capsule in glass container filled with water, then seal container lid.

Place sealed container near wall obstruction.

Step back and wait.

5 MINUTES

8 minutes difficulty level: high

newspaper bomb

First knock out the goon watchingyour every move.

Find liquid starter fluid, fertilizer, newspaper, and foam from a nearby location.

Rip the newspaper along the center to create the base of your packet.

Add 2 handfuls of fertilizer.

Coat foam with starter fluid and place on newspaper and fertilizer.

Seal newspaper packet by rolling each side and duct taping the edges.

Repeat several times to save for convenient left-overs.

When ready to use light one edge with match and throw in the desired direction.

10 minutes difficulty level: high defibrillator

Grab the two closest metal candle stick holders and remove candle sticks.

Find a live power cord, preferably from a microphone, and detach from source.

Remove protective rubber covering on cord and divide into two live wires.

Find a plastic floor mat.

Cut into two pieces to cover hands.

Hold plastic mat over each hand while gripping candle stick to protect from electrocution.

Place one live wire on each candle stick.

Remove clothing to place candle sticks on bear chest.

Hold candlesticks on chest and wait for reaction.
