ROBERT PARKER HIGHLIGHTSSANTA RITA WINES ONCE AGAIN
Santa Rita has received excellent scores in eRobert Parker.com. The success ran across the board for every line of wine: 120, Reserva, Medalla Real, Floresta, and Casa Real. The Premium wines from Chile’s finest and most diverse terroir earned special kudos.
The October 30 edition (Nº 179) of the specialized wine site eRobert Parker.com released wine critic Jay Miller’s evalua-tions of 285 Chilean wines.
In his article “Chile: Still a Work in Progress”, Miller com-mented: “the country has made enormous progress and is producing wines that can satisfy every consumer, from cheap quaffing wines to world-class age worthy reds.”
Santa Rita has focused its energies on this latter category-Premium and Ultra Premium wines. The company’s great diversity of terroir throughout country allows them to choose the best and most specific vineyards to draw out the best potential for each of its varieties.
As a result of this work Viña Santa Rita has repeated its 2007 success with this critic and obtained excellent scores in all of its lines of wines: 120, Reserva, Medalla Real, Floresta, and Casa Real, particularly the Premium wines from Chile’s most diverse terroirs.
Results like these once again confirm Santa Rita´s leadership, along with the excellence, quality, and consistency of its wines.
Casa Real
Cabernet Sauvignon 2004Maipo Valley
92 Points
“The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Casa Real is purple/black in color with a perfume of pain grille, mineral, scorched earth, black
currant and blackberry liqueur that jumps from the glass. This is followed by an opulent wine with layers of savory fruit, espresso and chocolate notes, enough silky tannin to evolve
for 3–5 years, and outstanding depth and concentration. Drink this superb wine from
2013 to 2026.”
TRIPLE C
2005Maipo Valley
92 Points
“The 2005 Triple C is Santa Rita’s proprietary blend of 53% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet
Sauvignon, and 17% Carmenère. Opaque purple-colored, it has an alluring perfume of spice
box, particularly clove and cinnamon, mineral, pain grille, earth notes, cassis, and black currants.
Sleek and rich on the palate, it has layers of flavor, enough structure to improve for 3–5 years, superb depth and concentration, and a 60-second
finish. Drink it from 2013 to 2026”.
FLORESTA APALTA
Cabernet Sauvignon 2004Colchagua Valley
90 Points
“The purple-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Floresta Apalta offers an alluring
aromatic array of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, earth notes, cassis, and black
currants. Full-bodied on the palate with layered, already complex flavors, this well-
balanced, lengthy effort will offer prime drinking from 2011 to 2019.”
FLORESTA LEYDA
Sauvignon Blanc 2007Leyda Valley
90 Points
“The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc Floresta from the cool-climate Leyda Valley is a first class
effort with an expressive bouquet of minerals, fresh herbs, grapefruit, and gooseberry. Round and complex, the wine has exceptional depth and concentration. Should be consumed over
the next 1-2 years.”
FLORESTA ALTO MAIPO
Syrah 2004Maipo Valley
90 Points
“The 2004 Syrah Floresta Alto is opaque purple-colored with a superb bouquet of
wood smoke, game, bacon, and blueberry. On the palate it is full-bodied, slightly brooding,
and structured. There are gobs of layered, savory blue fruits, peppery spice, and plenty
of ripe tannin to carry this lengthy wine through 2020.”
