    agriculture innovations

are we testing? Good Agricultural Practices: improved

varieties, spacing, thinning, weeding, community seed production, post harvesthandling and storage

Soil erosion control: Fanya Juu, contourfarming, grass strips, trash lines

Soil fertility management: crop rotation, intercropping legumes, FYM, composting

Soil moisture management: Magoye ripper,Ox ridger, cover crops, contour farming

    Food Security in Chololo

Last week (end of Nov 2012)

Village Chair says only 1% have no food

Only 1 person out of 80 had no food at home

Before half of households would be hungryby this time, and would be running to Cheusi,

the rich commercial farm in Kongwa, lookingfor work as casual labourers.
