Course DetailsDuration: 8 months (on shore) plus 10 months (onboard) Minimum Requirements:

BE /B TECH (MechanicalEngineering)  or BE / B TECH(Mechanical &Automation Engineering),Naval Architecture with minimummarks of 55% aggregate in Degree.

Minimum 50% marks in English subjectat 10th or 12th or in Degree Examconducted by a recognized board orUniversity.

Medical RequirementsPhysical Standards:

Candidates should be healthy andphysically fit for sea service as per STCW2010/MS Medical rules 2000 and all itsamendment as applicable to seafarers.

Aspirants to note that they have toundergo their medical examination withthe company appointed DG Shippingapproved doctor only. Any medical reportacquired otherwise is inadmissible and thecandidate will have to undergo a medicalexamination with the company appointeddoctor.

If the candidates want to check theirfitness before undergoing the process,they are requested to get in touch with usover e-mail/phone. The candidate willhave to bear the costs of such a test andthe admissions team will only help arrangefor such a test.

Admission ProcessStep by step admission process to joinGEIMS:

Step 1: Apply online at geinstitute.comfor the course you want to join and paythe examination fees.

Step 2: You will receive a link over e-mail for an online examination that canbe taken at any location. You will needto have a proper internet connection todo the same.

The login details as well as otherinstructions shall be provided in thee-mail. Please make sure you provide thecorrect credentials (e-mail and phonenumber) while application. Link will be sent by our assessmentpartners.

Step 3: If you clear the cut-offs (mentionedin the Online Examination Section), youshall receive an e-mail invite to appear forPersonal Interview at either Mumbai orLonavala. The details of the venue will besent on the e-mail. The interview venue isdecided in advance and is at the solediscretion of GEIMS. Candidate shall not begiven a preference to select.

Step 4: Those candidates who are selectedin the personal interview shall undergo amedical test with the company appointeddoctor.

Step 5: A merit list shall be put out on theinstitute website taking into account pastacademic scores, online examinationscores, interview scores as well as medicalexamination results.

Step 6: The candidates who make it to themerit list shall be asked to pay a bookingamount to reserve their seat.

Step 7: After receiving the bookingamount, the candidates will be issued witha sponsorship letter on the basis of whichthey can avail loans. We have a tie-up withState Bank of India for the loan process.The details of this shall be intimated to thecandidates.

Step 8: The candidates shall receive ajoining instructions as well as otherdocuments that they need to submit beforethey join. Candidates are encouraged toread the instructions carefully.

Step 9: The candidates to report on themorning the course commences at GEIMS,Lonavala. The reporting date and time shallbe intimated to the candidates.

FAQsWill accommodation be provided duringthe interview process?

No, the institute does not provideaccommodation. Candidates andaccompanying guardians are to make theirown arrangements for accommodation.

Is the booking amount/fees refundable? The fees and/or booking amount is notrefundable under any circumstances.

Does the institute reimburse expensesincidental to the process?

No, the institute does not reimburse anyexpenses whatsoever incidental to theprocess, unless specifically communicated.

Stipend during the training period shall bedetermined by the market conditions as wellas the organization that the trainees join fortheir training period.

The total training period is 18 months - 8months on-shore and 10 months on boarda ship as a Graduate Marine Engineer.

EmploymentThe Offer of admission for Pre-Sea Trainingand Shipboard Training by GES shall not beconsidered as guarantee of employment oncompletion of such training. However, in theevent of GES offering employment afterpassing the Examination, the candidate shallagree to be bound to accept our employmentand serve on our vessels for a period of threeyears. This is a requirement as per theGazette Notification S.O.2132 (E) issued onDecember 12, 2007 by Govt. of India.
