EGYPT TOURISM BACK IN ACTION

The trip covered all the magnificent destinations of

Egypt which showcased the modern Egypt that has

created a distinct identity, keeping intact its rich ancient

cultural heritage. The FAM trip covered places such

as Cairo, Luxor, Sharm El Sheikh, the historic

Tahrir Square, Nile cruise and rich culture was

showcased through various functions held for the

delegation by the Tourism Authority.

The trip started with a beautiful sight seeing of the

pyramids in Cairo followed by the meeting with

Pyramids in Cairo

The FAM Trip media were taken all around Luxor

which is considered the greatest outdoor museum in the

world and contains nearly one third of the world’s

antiquities.

The Karnak Temple in Luxor

Another beautiful destination covered was Sharm el-Sheikh, a city situated on the southern tip of the

Sinai Peninsula, in South Sinai Governorate, Egypt, on

the coastal strip along the Red Sea. Most people head to

Sharm el Sheikh for sun, sea, blue skies and waterfront

tourist attractions. Sharm el Sheikh is largely a resort

city catering to tourist needs, with top-class hotels and

fine restaurants.

Egypt has always been known for its exotic pyramids,

colourful markets and the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-

Sheikh. But the recent upheaval had put everything on

a halt that hit the country in Jan 2011. The Egyptian

authorities are also counting on tourists from India to

help revive the economy which earned USD 12.5

billion in 2010 from tourism.

Tahrir Sqaure was the major attraction of the FAM

trip where the journalist visited the historic place where

the political democratic movement began. The place is

now back in the normal mode and things have settled

down

The journalists were taken to enjoy an intimate

encounter with the exotic life in the coral reef while in

a glass bottomed boat on their trip to Hurghada.

A sail over vivid coral reefs and the beautiful fishes and

other fascinating underwater life that inhabits them is a

experience in itself. One must go for a glass bottomed

boat ride which will leave you with many wonderful

memories of your visit to Hurghada.

TIME TO SHOP!! FOOD, DANCE & MUSIC

Shopping in Egypt is a wonderful experience with the

wide variety of shops and shopping malls in the different

Egyptian cities. While Egypt Shopping, tourists can find

quality antique items as well as modern ones in the

Egyptian shops and markets. There are many modern-day

shopping malls, which can be found in the Tahrir Square

area. The most famous area of shopping is the Khan el-

Khalili in Cairo where one can find the best antique

items. The area specializes in spices, jewelry, spices,

utensils and Coptic cloth items. It is also the ideal place

to buy brassware and copper items.

The bazaars of Luxor are some of the best places to buy

the best place to buy gold jewelry and spices.

There is so much to do in Egypt, enjoying nightlife in

Egypt is among one of the best things to there. The

most vibrant nightlife of Egypt is of capital city-

Cairo. Several hotel nightclubs offer dinner program

with a Russian Show and a belly dance program. The

best ones are in the Helnan Palestine and the

EATING OUT!!

Mr. Adel El Masry, Director Egypt Tourism office with

media delegation at Mena House Hotel Oberoi

The media delegation was taken to all round trip of

several places where they enjoyed different variety of

food items in Egypt.

Egyptian cuisine is largely connected to Arabic and

Middle-Eastern foods. The best places to eat in Egypt,

if you are looking for good value, are in cafés but the

choice of food isn’t as good as in restaurants whose

target clientele are tourists and the local middle class.

Street stalls are found in most big towns and cities

and are the cheapest place to get a snack. During the

trip the delegation stayed at Hotel City Stars in

Cairo & Hotel Sonesta in Luxor.
