The 4th Comprehensive Promotion Plan of Mihama Town
[Enhancing school education] (excerpt)
Mihama Town has long been promotingexperiential learning about welfare, agriculture and fishery through field tripsand nature class programs, etc.
In addition to improve academic abilities, itis now necessary to promote integratedstudy while enhancing energy andenvironmental education utilizing localresources effectively in the environmentblessed with nature, aiming at creating aunique school taking advantage of the localcharacteristics, based on “Wakasa Mihamaplan of promoting collaborative relationshipamong industry, tourism and academia.”

(21)Target for reducing GHG emissions in Fukui Pref. : 3%
Added Achieved the target by reducing by 5.9% in FY 2009.
In the report compiled by the Cost Verification Committee of Energy and Environment Council at the end of 2011, the nuclear power generation cost is the lowest numerically (reference material 1). However, it has not concluded that the cost is the lowest because there still remain some issues requiring further evaluation. On the other hand, it is estimated that electricity generation costs will increase by about 3 trillion yen a year if nuclear power plants stop operating, according to the reference material (material 2, p. 7) submitted to Energy and Environment Council on Sept. 4, 2012.
In the reference material (material 2, p. 6) submitted to Energy and Environment Council on Sept. 4, 2012, uranium resources will become renewable for several thousand years if fast breeder reactor cycle is realized in the future.
