Edexcel AS and A2 Level Maths and Further Maths Three courses are offered with entry

requirements based on GCSE maths: Mathematics with Statistics (A or A*) Students within the top 25% of marks for B will also be considered Mathematics with Mechanics (A* or A) Students must be studying Physics Mathematics + Further Maths (A*)

A2 Further Maths is useful for students who:

Excel at Mathematics Wish to study Mathematics,

Engineering, Economics, Physical Science or any other Maths-based subject at a top university.

Maths + Further Maths

New courses from 2008, but most elements are as from 2004.

The current modular/AS system is in place for 1 more year.

7 Modules are studied in year 12, 6 in year 13.

Modular Course: AS Maths and AS Further Maths : - Taken in year 12.

Consists of 7 Modules (6 of which make the 2 AS grades):

C1, C2, C3, FP1, M1, S1, S2 A2 Maths and A2 Further Maths - Completed in year

13. 6 (or 5) Modules: C4, FP2, M2, D1, D2, M3 (other options available) A2 Maths: C1,C2,C3,C4 + 2 modules A2 Further Maths: FP1,FP2 + 4 modules

Students’ work will involve note-taking, exercises in class, assessed homework every week and examination practice. There is no coursework element to the external assessment.

Most Text books are provided but students may be expected to buy some of their Text books, and also exercise books if they are required.

Sample examination papers for the course are also on display.

Year 13 options Flexibility in moving down to single maths

to complete just A2 Maths 1 optional extra lesson is available in year

13 for Oxbridge/STEP preparation. You could even self study 3 or 6 additional

modules to get 2½ or 3 Maths A2 grades!

What to write on your application? Please write one of the 4 options below

on your application form for 6th Form 1. Maths Statistics 2. Maths Mechanics 3. Further Maths (FM only takes 1 choice block, but you are advised to do only 2 other options due to workload, although 3 are possible)
