Class K/1G

K/1G are excited to have started the 2021 school year. We are still settling into our classroom and getting to know the new Kindergarten students.

We have been learning lots about where things are located in our school. Last Thursday afternoon we got to use the playground equipment and learnt the rules to help keep us safe.

Our class will be attending the library every Wednesday. If students wish to borrow on this day they will need to bring a library bag and return the book the following Wednesday.

We are looking forward to the term ahead.

Miss Green

Class 3/4V

Welcome back to another fantastic year. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.

3/4V are very excited to be back at school and are ready to learn. This week we have been learning new routines, getting to know each other and settling into our classroom. We are ready for a fun and exciting year full of learning.

I have sent home Seesaw letters to parents this week. On Seesaw I will be sharing your child's learning with you. I will also send messages and reminders about upcoming events. It is a great way for you to see what your child is learning about and for them to share their work with you.

Homework will start in Week 4.

Miss Visser

Class 1/2H

Wow! Week 3 already.

1/2H has had a busy start to 2021 and we have been participating in lots of ‘get to know you’ activities.

Home Reading starts this week and our library day is Thursday. Can you please provide your child with a library bag if you wish for your child to bring their books home and please return them each Thursday.

Our sports day is Friday and all students will need to wear comfortable shoes and hat.

Have a great week!

Miss Hook

Class 3-6R

Students are settling well into the IM class. They are busy working to establish class expectations centred around our school’s 'Aussie Fair Rules'.

Homework will be sent home on Mondays and it needs to be returned by Friday. Please let me know if you want home readers sent home.

Don’t forget to download the SeeSaw APP once you receive the log-in details. This is a great platform for keeping up-to-date with what is happening in your child’s classroom. Teachers and students will regularly upload photos and samples of students’ work. This App also allows you to communicate informally with your child’s teacher. Please allow at least 24 hours for the teacher to reply to messages.

Sport will be held on Friday mornings, so please encourage your child to wear joggers on this day.

Class 5/6M

5/6 have had an incredible start to the year. We have been settling into routines and have enjoyed getting to know each other.

We are currently studying place value in Mathematics and are enjoying some hands-on games. In English, we have been looking at the features of recipes and how to develop a growth mindset. Monday afternoon ended up being pancake Monday.

This year is going to be a great one!

Miss Milliken

Life Education

This personal development program, which is an important part of our curriculum will be on Monday 15th February.

To ensure as many students as possible attend the school will subsidise the cost by 50%.

Permission notes have been sent home today and need to be returned to school by this Friday 12th February with payment.

Miss Hook

Swimming will run from Monday 22th February to Friday 5th of March 2021.

COVID Safe Check-in From Term 1 2021, all NSW public schools must use the Service NSW COVID Safe Check-in and complete the external visitors form. This can be done at the school administration building according to your school’s visitor guidelines.

Parents and carers who are only dropping off and picking up students do not need to check in using the Service NSW QR code.

Attendance Students should be at school unless: • they have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing

medical condition and the expected timeframe. Medical certificates are required for all absences of more than three days.

• they are currently unwell.

In accordance with advice from NSW Health, parents and carers are reminded NOT to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms.

NSW Health has requested that schools encourage anyone who is unwell or has even mild flu-like symptoms, to arrange to be tested through their local medical practitioner or one of the COVID-19 clinics.

Students with flu-like symptoms will need to be tested and provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom-free before being permitted to return to school.

Students who do not undertake a COVID-19 test will not be permitted to return to school for a 10-day period. Additionally, they must be symptom-free for at least 3 days prior to returning to school.

Students who have seasonal allergic rhinitis or another condition that presents similarly to flu-like symptoms are still required to get tested for COVID-19 and return a negative test result. Where their symptoms continue beyond 10 days, students should provide documentation from their GP confirming their symptoms are typical for their condition. If the student develops new or changed symptoms, they should get tested for COVID-19.

COVID-19 testing for students with complex health or disability may be challenging. In these situations, schools will ask the parent or carer to have their child assessed by their medical practitioner. Where a medical practitioner determines that a COVID-19 test is not required, documentation must be provided to the school to confirm that the student does not have symptoms that warrant a COVID-19 test. The certificate must also indicate that the student is able to return to school.

Visiting NSW Schools Parents and carers are not allowed on school sites or at off-site school events held during school hours except for the following purposes only:

• Essential parent and carer meetings with teachers and/or school executives, with a scheduled appointment. This includes scheduled meetings with parents and carers of prospective students.

• Parents and carers who attend a school administration building or another defined location for the purpose of picking up their child if they are unwell or where they have been asked to arrange for a COVID-19 test after their child has displayed flu-like symptoms while at school.

• Parents and carers who need to be on-site to collect or purchase uniforms.

• Parents and carers can attend parent orientation meetings and ‘meet the teacher’ meetings with school staff for all year/stage groups. Meetings should be limited to 1 hour where possible.
