It’s National Migration Week 2013 through January12 with a primary theme of “We are Strangers No Longer: Our Journey of Hope Continues.” This year's National Migration Week observance and theme commemorate the 10th anniversary of the historic joint pastoral letter of the United States and Mexico bishops conference. This theme reminds us of our responsibility as Catholics to help newcomers integrate in ways that are respectful, culturally sensitive and responsive to social needs, and of the ongoing need for comprehensive and compassionate immigration reform. Mrs. Linda Wolff, fifth-grade teacher at St. Antoninus parish, says her school is sharing her excitment for winning the iPad Mini awarded by the Archdiocesan office of Evangelization and Catechesis Year of Faith Giveaway. The Giveaway was hosted in conjunction with the A.C.E. Project to help broaden its on-line audience, according to Sean Ater, Assistant Director of Evangelization and Catechesis. The online and social media tools are all being used to enhance the Catholics Come Home Commercial Campaign, and the Parish Book Program, which successfully distributed over 100,000 books throughout the Archdiocese of Cincinnati this Christmas. “We feel that our on-line presence is as important in our evangelization strategy as our other efforts,” Ater said. “The iPad Mini Giveaway was meant to encourage people to engage and connect with us on-line.”The Giveaway attracted more than 2,000 entries and increased subscribers on the blog and social media sites and contributed to a rise in on-line engagement – comments on the blog, interaction on Twitter and Facebook.
