EXTERNAL REVIEW Norb Dunkel, Associate VP for Student Affairs and Director of

Housing, University Florida Faculty, staff and students from UWF November 13 -15, 2011

Focus groups with residents Meetings with staff from all areas of Housing, including professional

and student staff Met with staff from UWF Foundation and UWF ITS Met university personnel who work with our Living and Learning

Communities, Delphi and Oracle Complete Facilities Tour

Observations

1. Master Planning has been exceptional Written using industry standards of proven occupancy demand as

determined by institutional enrollment projections and planning2. Outstanding Facilities Operations3. Delphi LLC is intentional and well grounded; a model for LLCs4. HRL Desktop has an excellent collaboration with UWF ITS to provide

technology services to resident students5. HRL possesses a strong, functional working relationship with UWF

Foundation and is able to provide optimal financial documents for setting priorities and decision making

6. HRL staff is competent, well trained and dedicated to the success of the Housing program

Recommendations

1. Staffing additions to adequately support system growth IT /Web Design, FT Hall Directors for established Living/Learning

Communities/Maintenance and other support staff2. Implement wireless technology in all residential areas3. HRL must engage with new DSO related to Housing construction

projects4. Increase stakeholder involvement in HRL construction projects (student

residents and Housing maintenance staff)5. Assessment of specific internal policies and procedures

keys, workflow processes6. Review duty protocols for RA staff and begin using Hall specific duty

phones
