Khadi has become a forgotten thing as children of today’s generation are

either not aware of it or consider it to be rough, bulky and old-fashioned cloth.

To make the students understand its importance, ‘Khadi wearing day’ was

organized. Students of classes V to VIII came dressed in kurta, shirt and jacket

made of handwoven cloth.

Students of classes VI to IX presented an informative skit ‘Kahan Gayee Khadi?’

It showed a set of young children who went to a party dressed in formals. The

child – Vatsal Panghal of VI B, who wore khadi aroused curiosity in others to

know about khadi. He invited them to meet his grandfather who told them

about Gandhiji’s initiative in boycotting the foreign goods and spinning ‘charkha’

to make yarn from cotton for weaving cloth. They were also informed that khadi

is warm in winters and cool in summers.

It was an interesting and informative skit that was enjoyed by the students.
