Foam Hardware – Proportioning systems
Proportioning systems, Bladder Tanks – how they workA bladder tank is a steel vessel containing a rubber bladder that contains foam concentrate.
They uses balanced pressure proportioning , wherein the pressure of the foam concentrate is automatically balanced with the water supply.
This is achieved by water entering the steel outer and compressing the internal rubber bladder to dispense proportioned foam concentrate into the water exiting the vessel, delivering accurate proportioning over a wide flow range.
The SKUM bladder tank is a foam proportioning system used to introduce foam concentrates into water systems with variable flows and / or pressure.
The SKUM bladder tank delivers;• Constant proportioning by a pressure balance.• Works with varied flow rates• Sizes from 200 to 25,000 litres.
22
Foam Hardware – Proportioning systems
Proportioning systems – Proportioners - how they work
Proportioners come in 2 varieties, Pump and Tank Proportioners. Proportioners work by inducing foam concentrate into the water feed line for foam pump systems.W models stands for extended flow range
Balanced Pump ProportionersThe balanced PP and PPW proportioner are used for foam proportioning accuracy. This is maintained during fluctuations in water flow and pressure. Balanced proportioners are designed for monitor, deluge systems, closed sprinkler head systems together with a atmospheric tank and foam pump.
Bladder Tank ProportionersBladder Tank proportioners are designed for monitor, deluge systems, closed sprinkler head systems together with bladder tank. They deliver accurate proportioning irrespective of flow and pressure variations.

Foam Hardware – Proportioning systems
Proportioning systems, In-line Inductors – how they work
The function of the stationary inline inductor is to inject foam agent into a water stream. The inductor is designed to handle high counter pressures, allowing a long distance from the injection point to foam applicator.
Inline inductors:- Least expensive proportionermethod use a venturi effect to proportion the correct ratio of foam concentrate into the water flow.
An inline inductor is designed for use in fixed flow and pressure foam systems such as low, medium and high expansion foam systems, water / foam deluge and monitors.
24
Foam Hardware – Proportioning systems
Proportioning systems, Around the Pump Inductors – how
they workThe around the pump inductor
The around the pump inductor is a foam concentrate proportioning unit designed for connection in a by-pass between the pressure and suction side of the fire water pump. This system diverts a small part of the feed water flow through the PI, with a negligible effect on the fire water line pressure.
Commonly used in marine applications, around the pump inductors are also used on specialized foam trucks or fixed systems where a dedicated water pump is available.
The SKUM pump inductor has; • Horizontally or vertically Integrated.• 100 to 22500 l/min system capacity• 1 to 680 l/min foam liquid suction capacity• Corrosion resistant materials.• Fits DIN PN16 or ANSI 150lbs

Foam Hardware – High Expansion
Outside Air Foam Generation – how they work
General Description
HIEX High-Expansion Foam Generators deliver a mass of foam by mixing foam concentrate and water through water powered generators. When activated the foam solution expands between 200:1 to approximately 1000:1 times it original state, to suppress fire rapidly.
This high-expansion is achieved by coating a perforated screen with a foam solution, this is comprised of water and METEOR X 2% High-Expansion Foam Concentrate, while a high volume of air is blown through the screen producing the expanded foam. The largest HIEX generator will produce 816m3 per minute.
BenefitsAs a fire suppression solution the benefits of HIEX Foam Generators are that they can be used in and around many types of electrical equipment. This is because minimal water is used in the creation of the foam solution reducing the potential for hazardous run-off.
Typical applications would be; Aircraft Hangars, Hazardous Waste Storage, Paper Product Warehouse, Tyre Warehouses, Flammable Liquid Storage and Mining .

General Description
HotFoam technology works on the same principle as outside air high expansion system. Special design and formulation of the equipment allow this system to operate in confined spaces and hot gases generated by the fire using no fresh like traditional “Outside” air systems. Benefit of this technology is found in total installation cost especially considering the building modification necessary to install a traditional “outside” air system or ESFR sprinkler system.
Typical applications would be; Warehouses, Flammable Liquid Stores, Tunnels, Marine Engine and Pump Rooms.
