THE L.C.H.S THEATRE ENSEMBLE &  CHOIR PROUDLY PRESENTSFOOTLOOSE: THE MUSICAL

The LCHS Theatre Ensemble and the LCHS Choir  have joined together together to perform  one of the most explosive movie musicals in recent history that bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from  Chicago  to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn’t prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town’s youth that he cannot command in his own home. This heartfelt story is set to the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical.

FOOTLOOSE celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with an open heart and an open mind.

Showtimes are OCTOBER 13,14, and 15, 2011 at  7:00 PM: OCTOBER 16, 2011  at 2:00 PM. The show will be performed at Langham Creek High School  Auditorium,17610 FM

529 Houston, Texas. Ticket prices are $15.00 reserve seating, $12.00 general admission at the

door, $10.000 advance sale general admission, and a special student price for Thursday’s performance of $8.00. You can also visit lchsensemble.com or langhamcreekchoir.com for more information.

Cypress Falls High SchoolCHOIR NEWS

A big thank you to all the parents that came to parent night in September. It was nice to meet the parents of our wonderful choir students and the outpouring of willingness will be greatly appreciated. We could not operate without your participation and commitment.

The men’s choir cook out social was enjoyed by all. Applause is due to the burger flipping, hot dogging, grill toting, tomato slicing, grocery getting and dessert makingparental support system!!! Our men had a great time at Hearthstone Park, playing Frisbee, chowing down, swinging, chowing down, visiting, chowing down, well, you get the concept! A good time was had by all.

The first Thursday of each month during the school year will be “Romero’s Mexican Kitchen” night. Thank you Manuel Romero for partnering with Cy Falls Choir money raising efforts by offering this special night. Come in and enjoy mamma Romero’s recipes and take a night off of cooking! Special bonus: Thursday happy hour, margaritas are $2 all day! We receive a generous 25% of each bill total - just tell them you are with the choir! Dates rounding out this year are, 10/6, 11/3, and 12/1. Romero’s Mexican Kitchen, 11734 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress, TX, 77433; 281-758-2426 (1 block south of 290 at the corner of Barker Cypress and Queenston, open till 9:30 on Thursdays).

Mission Burrito on hwy6 towards I-10 is also extending their generous

hand in fundraising by offering 25% of your total bill to our efforts. Flyers for both dining events will be sent home with the students. Enjoy family time, stress free AND help out! It doesn’t get any better than that! And who doesn’t like to eat!!??

Practice continues for our upcoming Fall concert on October 11th. This will be held in the school auditorium and is always well attended. Won’t you consider joining us?

COPPERFIELD COURIERVOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE

CY-FAIR ISD AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS – A WINNING TEAM!The Cy-Fair ISD volunteer theme for this year is “Teamwork is Key” in recognition of the combined effort that it takes to ensure student success. Our school district fully understands and appreciates that it takes district administration, teachers, school staff, parents, community partners and volunteers each doing their part to give our children every possible opportunity to reach their full potential. We are looking for community members who want to become Global Volunteers in order to be a part of our “team” and make a difference in the lives of children. If you are not the parent, grandparent or legal guardian of a student enrolled in the school at which you volunteer, you would be considered a Global Volunteer. We have many volunteer opportunities available at a school near you. Individuals are needed to perform a full range of activities and we have training available for specific tasks such as vision and hearing screening, tutoring, mentoring, Junior Achievement, and other instructional presentations. If you have some free time and would like to learn more about becoming a Global Volunteer, please contact Kim Nash at [email protected] or call the CFISD Partners in Education Office at 281-894-3950. And remember: “TEAMWORK IS KEY”

COPPERFIELD COURIERZOO CAMPING TRIP

Cadette Troop 16066 recently spent the evening camping at the Houston Zoo.  The girls were given a private tour by zoo employees and experienced many interesting behind the scenes facts & activities as well as having the entire zoo to themselves!  They enjoyed a pizza dinner with a snack in the evening.  The next morning bright and early they had breakfast and a “hands on” experience with various animals such as snakes, hedgehogs, roosters and many more.  As part of the camping experience the girls were given a complimentary pass to enjoy the remaining full day at the zoo. Pictured from front to back are Lauren Young, Shelby McMillin, Lindsay Webster, Kelsey Park and on top is Krista Coffman.I encourage all troops to look into this experience as our girls had a great time!
