A 450mm deep with 300mm wide rectangular beam is required tosupport office loads of Gk=30.2kN/m and Qk=11.5kN/m over 2 of 6mspans. Assume 300mm wide supports, a 50-year design life and arequirement for a 2-hour resistance to fire in an external but shelteredenvironment. The reinforced concrete beam is designed for moderatehumidity or cyclic wet and dry, and secondarily for moderate watersaturation with fck=30MPa, fyk=500MPa.
