Commodores Report
Matt Farnsworth
T he Recreation Boater’s of California (RBOC) had a call-to-arms to oppose SB623, which went to com-
mittee the end of May and may be voted on by the end of June. This bill will prohibit the sale of copper bot-
tom paint across the state for recreation boats by 2015 (commercial and military vessels will be exempt); usage will be prohibited by 2019. RBOC is also lobbying against SB 595 bill, which would extend author-ity to the State Lands Commission to remove abandoned vessels, which is already a mandate of the Dept. of Boating and Waterways. We would like to take a shot at winning the “Gale Force Wind trophy for support-ing RBOC. Please let me know if you would like to make a special dona-tion.
TIDA is making progress on the redevelopment plans. The city of San Francisco held a hearing June 14 and the Navy is recommending Alter-native 2b for Site 27 (the area east of the marina). This would only re-move soil on the edge of the waterfront, and cover the bottom with gravel and not providing any dredging in the waterway. The public comment period ends July 2.
Summer has taken its time getting here; and the wet spring led to a few cruise-in cancellations. At least there were a few good weekends, and June is getting a bit warmer; hopefully we’ll have clear skies for the 4th of July Chili Cook-off. We had a great time in YRA season opener, and had several entries in the race. I hope to join the Westpoint Regatta on July 16 (TIYC to SYC – any other entries?)
For August, we’re looking forward to the Delta cruise and the Interna-tional Dinner. Followed in September by the Castaway Weekend Rib feed, and Dragon Boat/Pig Feed on Sept. 17. The 2011 cruising burgees are available for member purchase.
Please join me in welcoming our new members: Elena and David Esser, Barb and Randy Himes, Helene and Anthony Cirillo, Carol and Steve Lane.

Cruise Away Schedule for 2011
The great Vallejo race April 30 – May 1 could have used much more wind. We had a few
boats join in the festivities.
Opening day on the bay May 1 came and went with no participation from TI.
Floto-de-Mayo May 7th had two new members among those who showed up.
SBOD – May 14th we had two boats in the parade, but many members made it down for the festivities via black-
top. Jerry Lugert and Russ Breed did come over and circle 1eptune’s Palace as they were headed back from Red-
wood City and we FI1ALLY were bringing our boat down from Vallejo.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________

2011 Delta Trip
T he solstice has past. Days are getting shorter and time is drawing near to our TIYC Delta Cruise. Below is the itinerary. If you are planning to join us please contact Russ Breed ASAP (650) 400-6192.
You don’t need a boat to participate. Willow Berm is an easy drive for those wishing to blacktop. In addi-tion Jim & Sandy have offered to take people on their patio boat from the Delta House on day trips to either Willow Berm or Devils Isle. Contact them for details and to make arrangements.
Come to the Chili cookoff on July 4th for a discussion of cruising plans.

4th of July and the Fourth An-
nual Chili Cook-off
TIYC will host our annual chili
cook-off on Monday, the 4th of
July. Please bring a crockpot of
your favorite chili and join in
the fun. Remember, if you
bring some chili, you and your
family can enjoy dinner for
ONLY $5pp-a bargain if ever
there was one! Last year’s first
place winning chili entry was
provided by our very own Shar-
ron Harper! We will throw
down the gauntlet now to see if
anyone will have the “bravado”
to beat out Sharron’s best!!! The
chili (all you can eat until its
gone) will be accompanied by
cornbread, salad, watermelon
and brownie sundaes, provided
by the club via Atta and Alice
Pilram. The winners will have
bragging rights for a WHOLE
YEAR!!! San Francisco will be
providing the fireworks show
and hopefully, Mother Nature
will stay home with her fog
blanket and also enjoy the
show! Hope to see you there
and don’t forget to RSVP as
soon as possible so we don’t
overbuy food! Alice and Atta
Pilram and Alice’s mom Jo.
