OYC HISTORY
The Onondaga Yacht Club, founded in 1885 and
incorporated February 3, 1886, is one of the oldest boating
organizations in New York State. Located on Onondaga Lake
in Liverpool, NY, our clubhouse dates from 1938, with
additions in 1942, 1947 and 1956. In recent years, the
clubhouse and grounds have been extensively refurbished,
including new siding in 2013. OYC has hosted numerous
regional and statewide regattas and sailing events.
Onondaga Yacht Club holds weekly handicap sailboat races
and special holiday races, Sunday evening lakeside picnics,
dinners and potlucks, and adult and youth social events.
OYC sponsors Sea Scout Ship 876. The club’s Leet of small
boats and 22- foot sloop are available for member use.
Adult and youth sailing instruction is oMered. Members can
keep small boats in the dry sail area, and slips for larger
sailboats and powerboats are available in the Onondaga
Lake Park Marina adjacent to the club. With a beautiful
boating venue convenient to metropolitan Syracuse, OYC is
a friendly community of sailboaters, powerboaters and
kayakers oMering a wide variety of boating and social
activities for its members.
