The ConferenceThe Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is pleased to announce the tenth in this highly-regarded series of specialist conferences. Known for offering the best international forum for the discussion of the latest developments as well as informed debate – every event in the ‘Breakwaters’ series has ensured that advances in coastal engineering are appropriately highlighted.

Whilst retaining the historical coverage on shoreline structure, coastal processes, and design and construction of breakwaters and related structures, this event will extend the marine energy theme initiated with the 2009 conference; with emphasis on aspects at the civil and coastal engineering interface, such as fluid loadings, resource modelling, interactions with the environment, construction, installation, cabling, servicing and maintenance.

The conference will showcase up to 150 technical papers over three days covering all aspects of coastal engineering.

All papers in this series are rigorously peer reviewed to ensure that all attendees can access the highest quality information.

In addition to the main session presentations, the ‘Fringe’ will give opportunities for presentations of recent news, continuing research, and developments in progress. Workshops, short courses and technical visits will also be offered as part of the event.

Call for PapersProspective authors will be invited to submit abstracts within any of the relevant themes or topics by Wednesday 1 August 2012.

Full abstract guidelines and an abstract template can be found on the conference website. All abstracts must be in English and submitted electronically at ice-breakwaters.com

Why SubmitVisibility of your paper to thousands of readers through inclusion in major engineering indexes and resources, including ICE Virtual Library, Web of Science and Google Scholar

Quality control through peer review is unsurpassed, ensuring that the originality, authority and accuracy of your work will be fully recognised

Formal proceedings published after the event provide an invaluable resource for all organisations wanting access to the most up to date and robust information in the field of coastal engineering

Reduced registration fee for presenting authors.

Sponsorship and ExhibitionDo you need to address a key global audience of coastal engineers? Would you like to use Coasts, Marine Structures and Breakwaters as a meeting point? If so, contact us; the ICE will do the hard work for you, leaving you free to plan the content of your meeting.

Use this unique opportunity of a gathering of 400–500 of the worlds leading coastal engineers to launch and showcase new and exciting coastal products: a technical exhibition will be an integral feature of the conference. Sponsoring or exhibiting at this event will allow your company to:

■ Associate your business with the professionalism and excellence the ICE stands for

■ Have direct access to those at the forefront of research into coastal engineering

■ Be part of the legacy of the event by being included in the post event published proceedings

■ Generate new leads for your business
