SARATOGA COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL EXHIBITION
CLIFTON PARK – A Saratoga County Arts Council “Art in Pub-lic Places” Exhibition is on display in the 2nd floor Gallery at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library, for the month of August. Featured is the textile and quilt work of the Quilt North Guild. The title of the exhibit is Small Works. This ex-hibit showcases smaller “wall” size quilts, as compared to the traditional “bed” size quilts, which our members create. The quilts show a range of skills and interests, from traditional table linens to artistic surfaces that might be more at home in a gallery setting. Piecing, appliqué, hand and machine quilting, dyeing, painting, embroidery all have a place in contemporary quilt making.

IN YOUR HOMESO. SARATOGA COUNTY – Is it getting more difficult to manage living in your home? You might appreciate a vol-unteer to give you support like Bessie has been receiv-ing from Care Links Program volunteers. Friendly visiting, respite, “handy helping”, housekeep-ing, are ways you can benefit from services. Call 399-3262 to find out how a depend-able caring person can make your life easier.

Private sellers may know that the amount of mileage on their vehicles will go a long way toward determining their asking price, but they may not know that certain mileage milestones can af-fect how prospective buyers view their automobiles. For example, savvy buyers know that manufacturer warran-ties tend to expire after three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes fi rst. That may make a vehicle less attractive to buyers or inspire buyers to ask that the price of an extended warran-ty be deducted from the asking price of the vehicle. Another important mileage marker to consider is the 60,000-mile marker. Upon reaching 60,000 miles, many vehicles need cer-tain upgrades, including new brakes. Sellers who wish to un-load their preowned vehicle as quickly as possible may want to make these upgrades prior to selling their vehicles and showcase the service records to prospective buyers. If not, sellers should be fl exible with their asking price, as buyers are likely to know that signifi cant maintenance could be just around the corner for a vehicle that has exceeded the 60,000 mile mark.
