Youth Pipe Band to Compete in Glasgow, Scotland CAPITAL REGION – Twenty-five members of the Scotia-Glenville Pipe Band are returning to “The World’s” for the third time to compete in The World Pipe Band Championships on August 11. Coming from around the Capital District as well as the Northeast, the Band is strongly posi-tioned to qualify for the Final Round and make the prize list. The Band will have two competi-tions in Scotland before the World Championships. The Band is comprised of local and regional talent, with some members traveling from New Jersey and Massachusetts in order to participate in this unique pipe band and represent the United States at “Bagpiping’s Olympics.” The Scotia Glenville Pipe Band is a non-profit organization and donations are always appreciated to help the band pay for the trip to appear on Glasgow Green in August. In Scotland, the Band will be able to compete against juvenile bands from around the world – a rarity on this side of the Atlantic. In the United States, there are few juvenile bands – whose members can only be 18 years old or younger – so on summer weekends these teenagers compete against adults head to head. For more information on the Scotia Glenville Pipe Band, visit the website at www.sgpipe-band.com. For more information on the World Pipe Band Championships, visit their website at www.theworlds.co.uk. (P)

PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN (Never known to fail)Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine splendor of Heaven. Blessed Mother of the Son of God. Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth! I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to answer me in this necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, show me herein you are my mother. Oh, Mary con- ceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3x). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Holy Spirit, you who solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goal, you who gave me the divine gift to forgive and forget all evil against me and that in all instances in my life you are with me. I want in this short prayer to thank you for all things as you confirm once again that I never want to be separated from you in eternal glory. Thank you for your mercy towards me and mine. The person must say this prayer 3 consecutive days, after 3 days the request will be granted. This prayer must be published after the favor is granted. Thank you for favor received. F.L.C.

Arts Council Exhibition at the Gallery CLIFTON PARK – A Saratoga County Arts Council “Art in Public Places” Exhibition is on display in the 2nd floor Gal-lery at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library, for the month of August 2012. Featured is the textile and quilt work of the Quilt North Guild. The title of the exhibit is Small Works. This exhibit showcases smaller “wall” size quilts, as compared to the traditional “bed” size quilts, which our members create. The quilts show a range of skills and interests, from traditional table linens to artistic surfaces that might be more at home in a gallery setting. Piecing, appliqué, hand and machine quilting, dyeing, painting, embroidery all have a place in contemporary quilt making. (P)
