Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:6, 7 ..."God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble". Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you... Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:6, 8 In these two very similar passages, written by the apostle Peter and the apostle James, there is a clear connection drawn between pride in us and the devil's devouring work against us. Ezekiel writes in the 28th chapter verse 17 about Satan, "Your heart was proud because of your beauty...”. This angel, created by the Lord and blameless, according to Ezekiel 28:15 became proud in himself. This then led to a rebellion that is still filling creation with anguish and angst. Pride corrupted the heart of the Devil and is also an open door for enemy activity within our lives. Beware of the many flavors of pride beloved! Whether loud pride or quiet pride, boastful pride or false-humility pride. Because, not only does God resist the proud but pride invites the activity of the enemy into our lives. Repent of it immediately! Remove that familiar platform that the enemy stood on in heaven and will stand on in your heart- reject and repent of pride as though your life depended on it. Remember it is so much easier to see pride in others than in yourself. Pride has a blinding affect upon the eyes of our heart. It is skilled at seeing others problems while dull at seeing its own. Humility is the way to God's grace as well as the way to defeating that roaming lion that wants to devour. So in reality, humility is not only a gentle recipient of God's best, but also a violent weapon of war which slays the enemy’s access into your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any pockets of pride in you. If you discern areas, immediately repent and humble yourself- your victory depends upon it. Pride & the Devil But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble". 1 Peter 5:6, 8

In these two very similar passages, written by the apostle Peter and the apostle James, there is a clear connection drawn between pride in us and the devil's devouring work against us. FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GARNETT CORE VALUES 1. Because lost people matter to Christ, they must matter to me. 2. Communicating the Scriptures through preaching or teaching is catalyst for transformation in individual’s lives and in the Church. 3. The Church is a trauma center for wounded people. 4. The Church should strive to be culturally relevant while remaining biblically pure. 5. Full devotion to Christ is normal for every believer. 6. God has structured His Church so that all Christians are to be ministers who are serving in ways consistent to the gifts bestowed on

them by the Holy Spirit. 7. Worship is a lifestyle that is expressed with private consistency and corporate vibrancy.

8. Prayer is the lifeline of the Church.

SPONSOR A CHILD TO CAMP! God has blessed us with a group of students who way exceed anything we have had for many years. Last year we took 69 students to HHCC; making FCC the largest student sending church of 42 churches. With the cost of camp rising each year many students are faced with the burden of a price they cannot afford. Thankfully FCC covers the cost for every student who wants to attend. The Finance Committee and Church Board have asked me to get some help with the camp bill! If there are people who would be willing to sponsor a student to camp, it would be greatly appreciated. The cost of camp for: Overnighter (1-2nd Grade)-$35, Get Acquainted (3rd Grade) - $50.00, Junior 2 (4th-6th Grade) - $110.00, Junior High 2 (6th -9th Grade) - $125.00, High School (9th-12th Grade) - $125.00. This is a ministry that will change our students’ lives for Jesus sake! Please support this hugely valuable ministry. Blessings, FCC Board
