The highlights of the healthy New Testament church include the church community praying together and sharing sins in small groups of people for accountability. The early church understood and accepted the reality that they were only humans. We too are only human and we would find great strength knowing that we have each other’s backs. Humans have a need for comradery and fellowship; we have a need for closeness and connection with other Christians. This is perhaps the biggest problem with keeping men in the church, because this is often broken in the church. Think about it… if you knew that you could share a deeply personal thing with someone, knowing that it would stay in that place and be no more than a prayer concern and would have no judgment attached, would you desire that kind of connection? Yes, almost all humans would! In the early church, when someone strayed from the faith, they were not alienated with harsh words of judgment! They were prayed for and forgiven and restored! The Book of James has a reputation for being a book about doing good works, but I believe it is intended to help us understand GRACE equally as much! It is important for Christians to show grace to each other in 3 major ways. We must start by showing it to ourselves as Jesus shows it to us! Only once we are extending ourselves grace can we share it to others. We must then show grace to those in the body of Christ (His Church), and we must show grace to the community/world around us. This is not really easy to do. It is not the way the world does things, but it is critical to live for Jesus and not live this way! “The Christian faith is not about setting up some ideal of perfect behavior, but of connecting with God humbly, listening to Him, letting Him reorder our priorities, and living out His passion for the needy. Our faith in Christ changes us. We haven’t experienced the life-changing power of the gospel if we confess that Jesus is Lord with our mouth, but live like we are our own Lord through our actions. A true faith, a living faith, has the natural flow of good works. And good works, no matter how good, can’t produce authentic faithfaith is always a gift and never earned. When you face trials, struggle from temptation, minister to needy people, as you suffer, have faith in God. Trust Him for wisdom. Trust Him for compassion. Trust Him for patience. Trust Him for endurance. Trust Him for healing. Trust Him for the faith that produces a harvest of righteousness.” (Francis Chan: Christian Theologian)

We have invested deeply into the truths found in the book of James! In summary to our study, I choose to leave you with these thoughts. James challenges Christians to humble ourselves before the Lord! He has given us ample evidence and specific things to do to find and remain humble in God’s sight.

A NOTE FROM BRETT…Hey everyone! We

had a very busy spring break week, we had

two different fundraisers that were very

successful! The youth group was able to pull

in a lot of money towards Young Christians

Weekend in Branson, Missouri, and we would

not have been able to pull this off without the

help of our amazing church family, We love

you guys!!! The first fundraiser was a bake

sale and with the help of some awesome kids

and sponsors we were able to rake in a little

over $1500! Secondly the tree removal was

successful as well, and are continuing to count

the total as we are receiving more phone calls

and donations. I want to give a special shout

out to my amazing sponsors and thank them

so much for all that they do, I couldn’t do a

fraction of the things I do without your help

you are all awesome. Here are some pictures

from the bake sale hope you enjoy them. Have

a good week everyone, know that your youth

love you!!!! Brett

Our Youth In Action!

Way to go guys…You ALL Rock!

A Time for Everything – There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

I knew I would miss someone… Stacy Gwin has several duties on Sunday morning to help keep our church running smoothly. She deserves a gold star as do all our volunteers! Stacy does the Sunday School attendance and offering count, makes sure the candles have wicks as well as assists in getting our candlelighters up and down the aisle at the 10:30 a.m. worship services. We thank also all our youth who help in the very important role as Candlelighters!
