Growing, Sharing, and Serving Together

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK: DID YOU KNOW that God has a plan and purpose for your life? We often struggle with the reason for our life, wondering what we are supposed to be doing, and even how I’m supposed to get through this next week. Life can become so cluttered with stuff that we can lose sight of the really important things that have meaning and purpose. Being in Church each Sunday will help in sorting out all those things that distract us from our right relationship with the Lord. A time of worship, of sharing in praise, in the quietness of communion, and often just the quiet whisper of a prayer gives us the closeness we need with God. God really wants to share His blessings in our lives, but we are not always ready to receive them.

MONDAY EVENING LADIES BIBLE STUDY TO BEGIN: Monday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Annex, Becky Allen will begin a Ladies Bible Study. If you are interested please contact Becky at 785-433-1338 so she can get enough books for everyone. She has chosen the study “Restless” by Jennie Allen.

Excerpt: Jennie Allen explores the important question: "Do I matter?" And she asks, "We live with lots of things, lots of people? But do we live for something?" It is possible to waste our lives. We don't want to live life feeling empty, numb, or bored. So God stirs restlessness in our being that won't go away. We were designed to dream. We are called to dream. We must dream. And like Joseph, we may discover that our dreams have greater purpose and meaning than we ever imagined. Using the story of Joseph, Jennie explains how his suffering, gifts, story, and relationships fit into the greater story of God—and how your story can do the same. She also introduces Threads—a tool to help you see your own personal story and to uncover and understand the raw materials God has given you to use for His glory and purpose. Identify the threads of your life, weave them together, and dream intentionally about how to use your life to bring God glory.

FAITH ~ FUN ~ FAMILY

Ten tiny little fingers that always want to play. That never stops exploring the wonder of today. Ten tiny little fingers that from the very start will reach out for tomorrow and always hold your heart. Congratulations from FCC on the birth of your son Benjamin.

Congratulations to the Wiehl family!!! We are so excited to hear about your new little bundle of joy! Benjamin Allan Wiehl was born Saturday, October 17th. He weighed 6 lbs and 18 inches long! Proud parents are Nate & Nicole Wiehl and a very excited big sister Gwendolyn.

On Sunday, October 11, at the 10:30 a.m. Worship Services we had a Dedication Service for all of the Elders and Deacons. We wish to thank them all for their commitment to First Christian Church. A complete list of Elders and Deacons is on the back page of the Christian Visitor.

On the second week of Roots, Zia came to me with the first 20 verses of our Roots verse club memorized word for word! She has also been working on learning German in her spare time! Some of the verses are quite lengthy. 2 Cor. 5:17, John 15:7, Matthew 4:19, Romans 1:16, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, John 1:12, Revelation 3:20, 1 Peter 5:7, Hebrews 2:18, Matthew 6:33, Luke 9:23, Mark10:45, 1 John 3:18, Philippians 2:3-4, Leviticus 19:11, Acts 24:16, Matthew 5:16, 1 Peter 2:11. I don’t know many adults who can say they have that many verses memorized. She has done it remarkable well! We are super glad to have you Zia!

Schatzer Family Join the FCC Family! I am so proud to have been a part of Philip and Amanda joining our FCC family Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service! Phil and Amanda made their confession of faith in Jesus at the service and Amanda was baptized by her husband following the service! Phil was baptized many years ago and is happy to join and be a special part of our fellowship. Phil and Amanda also made a commitment to raise their children Payton and Cassie for the Lord in a child dedication ceremony. This was a very special celebration for our FCC family! We are so glad to have you! Praise God for His many blessings, Chris The Schatzer's address is: 245 West 7th Ave, Garnett, Ks 66032

ZIA Holloway is in the “SPOTLIGHT!”
