In many places of the world, bread is a common food. In a variety of countries

i t is a basic part of the diet of the people. There are many k inds of bread.

Leavened and unleavened bread. Breads of varying colors and tastes such as

whi te, wheat, sourdough, rye, pan dulce and tortas.

On the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, we celebrate the great gi ft of

Jesus giving himself to us as bread, the Bread of Li fe (John 6:35), the Bread of

the Eucharist. This is food for our journey of l i fe. It is food to strengthen us and

to reassure us. This celebration is a good t ime for us to ask what happens to us when we eat this Bread. One

response is to say that when we eat the Bread of the Eucharist, we become bread for the world.

As there are many k inds of bread, so in the Church there are many k inds of people. The proclamation of the

Eucharist is that, though we are many, we are one Bread, one Body of Christ. The proclamation that we are

one Bread is to be matched by our efforts to make that uni ty a real i ty. Being this one Bread, one Body, we are

the presence of Christ in the world. As bread for the world, we are the bread of the divine, interacting wi th the

world to make a di fference.

Our l ives are to be bread that nourishes and strengthens others by our concrete actions to walk wi th those

who l ive in poverty, to stand wi th those who suffer injustice, to defend those whose digni ty is being attacked.

As bread for the world we are to bui ld right relat ionships. Whether i t be wi thin our

fami l ies, wi th the neighbors on our street or wi th people in faraway lands, we are to be

bread that heals hurts and bui lds trust.

As we eat the Bread of Li fe on this feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, once again we

become bread for the world. Lives blessed, strengthened, consoled and reconci led are

the evidence that we are l iving what we have become.

Her last day wi th us wi l l be June 8, 2018. Sr. Catherine has served the Confi rmation and Youth programs fai thful ly these past two years and has lead our young people to a deeper relat ionship wi th Jesus and his Church. We thank Sr. Catherine for her service in coordinating and di recting our programs. She wi l l be greatly missed. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS) Our theme this year is Jesus is Our Superhero - Love Conquers Al l ! The $50 registrat ion fee includes a T-shi r t, lunch and materials. Chr ist Cat hedr al Par ish: Diocesan Chil dr en's Choir Summer Camp The thi rd annual Diocesan Chi ldren's Choir Camp is now accepting registrat ion for i ts summer program. The morning camp wi l l be held June 25-29 on the Christ Cathedral Campus in Garden Grove. Under the di rection of Christ Cathedral Music Director Dr. John Romeri , students wi l l develop choral singing, musical sk i l ls and l i turgical knowledge. !En muchos lugares del mundo, el pan es un al imento común. En varios países

es un elemento básico de la dieta de la gente. Hay muchos t ipos de pan. Pan

con levadura y sin levadura. Panes de di ferentes colores y sabores como

blanco, trigo, levadura madre, centeno, pan dulce y tortas.

En la fiesta del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo, celebramos el gran regalo de

Jesús dándose a nosotros como el pan, el Pan de Vida (Juan 6:35), el Pan de la

Eucaristía. Esto es al imento para nuestro camino de vida. Es comida para

fortalecernos y para tranqui l izarnos. Esta celebración es un buen momento

para preguntar qué es lo que nos pasa cuando comemos este Pan. Una respuesta es deci r que cuando

comemos el Pan de la Eucaristía, nos convert imos en pan para el mundo.

Como hay muchos di ferentes clases de pan, tanto en la iglesia hay muchos t ipos de personas. La

proclamación de la Eucaristía es eso, aunque somos muchos, somos un Pan, un cuerpo de Cristo. La

proclamación que somos un Pan es ser igualada por nuestros esfuerzos para hacer que la unidad sea una

real idad. Siendo este Pan, y este Cuerpo, somos la presencia de Cristo en el mundo. Siendo el Pan para el

mundo, somos el pan de la divinidad, interactuando con el mundo para hacer una di ferencia.

Nuestras vidas son ser pan que nutre y refuerza a otros por nuestras acciones concretas para caminar con

aquel los que viven en pobreza, con los que sufren injusticias, para defender a aquel los cuya dignidad está

siendo atacada. Como pan para el mundo debemos construi r las relaciones correctas. Ya sea dentro de

nuestras fami l ias, con los vecinos de la cal le en que vivimos o con personas en t ierras

lejanas, estamos para ser pan que cura heridas y construye confianza.

Mientras comemos el pan de vida en esta fiesta del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo, una

vez más nos convert imos en pan para el mundo. Vidas bendecido, reforzado, consoló y

reconci l iado son las pruebas que estamos viviendo lo que hemos hecho.

Adiós a Her mana Cat her ine Nguyen, LHC En este momento, quiero que sepan que la Hermana Catherine Nguyen, LHC, nuestra Coordinadora de Confi rmación/ los Jóvenes desde 2016, ha sido reasignada a otra parroquia por su congregación. Su últ imo día con nosotros será el 8 de junio de 2018. La Hermana Catherine ha servido fielmente en los programas de Confi rmación y Jóvenes estos últ imos dos años y ha l iderado a nuestros jóvenes a una relación más profunda con Jesús y su Iglesia. Agradecemos a Hermana Catherine por su servicio en la coordinación y di rección de nuestros programas. Se le extrañará mucho. Par r oquia de l a Cat edr al de Cr ist o: Campament o Diocesano de ver ano par a el cor o de niños El tercer campamento anual de coros de niños diocesanos está aceptando registraciones para su programa de verano. El campamento de la mañana se l levará a cabo el 25-29 de junio en el campus de la Catedral de Cristo.
