Seaweed extract is not a rare or exotic ingredient, it is used commonly in many types of cosmetics, foods, and other products. As a moisturizer, this cream is very basic, and has the added disadvantage of containing hazardous ingredients.According to experts, this cream does not only not live up to its claims, but its high content in petroleum derivatives, and eucalyptus oil, (a preservative recommended only in rinse-off products) can be harmful for the skin.

La Prairie´s formulations are not based on scientific facts, and are not backed up by clinical trials or studies. In the skin treatment industry it is common to use ingredients such as fruit extracts, hexapeptides and resveratrol that are effective and proven in studies. The labels and advertising can then claim the product is made with those ingredients, but the quantities are more often than not far too small or weak to be effective.
