JOIN THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
The Knights of Columbus are an international fraternal bene-
fit society. It is the largest lay organization in the Roman
Catholic Church. The core principles of the Knights of Co-
lumbus are: Charity, Unity, Fraternity & Patriotism.
There are three prerequisites to join the Knights: (1) male,
(2) at least 18 years old; (3) a practical Catholic (practical
means practicing/living out the Catholic faith).
After satisfying these three requirements, you should contact
any of the Knights and express your interest. Locally, con-
tact David Ely (Email: [email protected] or call (802)
862-5109). The Knights operate on a degree standard—first
through fourth. Knights may progress through the degrees as
they are able and willing. There is no specific time of the
year to join. If you don’t meet the requirements but would
still like to volunteer, we welcome you to join us in lending a
hand.
The activities of the Knights of Columbus are centered
around support for Church, Community, Family, Youth, and
Culture of Life. We look forward to hearing from you!

LITURGY OF THE WORD
January 5, 2020—The Epiphany of the Lord
Isaiah 60: 1-6 The glory of the Lord shines on all people.
Psalm 72: “Lord, every nation on earth will adore you.”
Ephesians 3:2-3a, 5-6 The Gentiles are coheirs of the
Promise.
Matthew 2:1-12 They presented gifts of gold, frankincense
and myrrh.
A light shines for all to see, revealing God’s glory and
drawing people from all over. In Isaiah, the light is in
Jerusalem, the holy city, attracting kings and caravans. In
the Gospel, the light is in the sky over Bethlehem, attract-
ing magi from the east. Paul preaches that the light shines
equally for all, Jews and Gentiles, “copartners” in the
promise of salvation. Let us listen today for all the foreign
places and peoples, enabling us to sing, “every nation on
earth will adore you.” (Source: Pastoral Patterns, Winter
2019-2020 - World Library Publications.)
