The three principal restaurants, Island, Coral and Palm Dining Rooms, seating just over 500 passengers, feature hand-painted murals and etched-glass partitions. The drapes and carpeting in the main dining areas absorb sound efficiently enough to preclude diners having to holler across the table to one another.Personal Choice Dining offers either traditional cruise dining (In the Amalfi), with a set seating time (6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.) and the same waiter and tablemates each evening, or new restaurant-style seating, allowing passengers to dine when and with whom they choose, with each party seated at its own table, as at a restaurant ashore (offered in the other two dining rooms). Restaurant-style diners may be seated in either of the two elegant main dining rooms any time between 5:30 and midnight. Many passengers are understandably grateful for this reprieve from having to hurry to dress for dinner in the traditional way after a long day ashore.Sabatini's, (surcharge $20 per person) described above, seats 100, the Sterling Steakhouse features Angus beef and other grilled red meats (surcharge $15 per person). The Horizon Court is open 24 hours per day, with menu service at night, plus casual breakfast and luncheon buffet.

Neptune Pool

The Neptune Pool is the name of the outdoor swimming pool ensemble . Featuring the significant swimming pool, it also includes: fountains, ornamental pools, sculptures, marble pavilions, alabaster lanterns, dressing rooms, and an ancient temple facade. The Neptune Terrace, including its huge pool shell, are raised up behind massive retaining walls on the Hearst Castle ridge-line in the Santa Lucia Mountains. It is to the north and lower than the main Casa Grande and the guest house terrace, with vistas of the ranch, Point San Simeon coastline, and Pacific Ocean.

ShoppingThe areas for shopping on the Caribbean Princess include boutiques such as "Essence" and "Facets "on Deck 6 (Fiesta) and the "Galleria" on Deck 7 (Promenade). You are able to buy an assortment of sundry items (suntan lotion, toiletries, candy, postcards, etc.), Princess logo-wear, resort wear (casual clothing), jewelry, watches, liquor, and cigarettes. The values (prices) are all over the spectrum -- great on liquor and cigarettes, generally good on watches, expensive on sundry items. And, when the ship is at sea, you will not have to pay a sales tax -- purchases are "duty free."Also popular is the "Art Auction At Sea," where you can purchase collectible art while onboard your cruise.

ActivitiesThis was one of our favorite features on Star Princess: a dedicated outdoor movie theatre. Although many ships have movie screens above their main pool areas, Princess does a particularly good job for its guests, putting blankets out on loungers, having fresh popcorn and even servers providing cookies and milk. It’s like a cozy drive-in at sea.The outdoor screen rises above the Neptune’s Reef pool area. The movie selection represented relatively fresh releases that had been theaters within the last 6 months. And the presentation quality was strong enough that a relatively bright, crisp picture can be enjoyed, even when the sun is out (though it’s at its best after sundown). The usual schedule was each movie would play once or twice in the evening, around 7:30 and 10 p.m.; most of these repeated on another day at 10 a.m. or 3 p.m. There was also a daily concert video—Stevie Wonder, Pavarotti, U2, Paul McCartney—that would be played at 5:30 p.m.

Itinerary Princess Cruises. "Personal Choice Cruising" is the name Princess gives their focus on ensuring that their passengers can do "what they want, when they want." Princess offers a consistent premium experience on well-maintained mid-size to mega-large ships--from 684 passengers to 2,600--that are among the most spectacular afloat. Princess offers a mix of traditional and progressive entertainment, and excellent meals with an Italian flair. Highlights. The Personal Choice Cruising concept delivers 24-hour dining, more balconies than any other fleet, a wide variety of activities, alternative dining choices, and more space and crew per passenger.
