General Motors produces and sells the brand Chevrolet for over 88 years in Brazil. The company has three industrial plants in São Caetano do Sul e São José dos Campos, both located in the state of São Paulo, and also one in Gravataí (RS). It also includes the following branches in the state o São Paulo: Mogi das Cruzes (patterned components production and automobile parts), Sorocaba (Chevrolet Logistics Center) and Indaiatuba (Test Track). Lastly, there’s a Technological Center in Mogi das Cruzes, which is structured to fully develop new car models. The Brazilian subsidiary is one of the five world centers in designing and developing cars at the engineering, design and manufacture fields.

In Brazil, the Tool Engineering from General Motors was controlled by complex host systems. Therefore, the main challenge was to promote the integration in only one interface for the following processes: planning, coordination e control of the tools construction stages, molding patterns and devices.

The challenge

As a part of the global implementation of the Microsoft Dynamics AX, General Motors as a second organization in this process, was supported by Inove Solve. We managed all stages in the implementation of the following modules: storage, planning, project and factory floor. Therefore, we have structured the Dynamics AX ERP with the proper parameters and improvements to meet the GM’s tools engineering local needs, unifying the processes in the same platform.

Solution

Integration of systems, consolidated information, more control in production, agility in project planning, fast response when modifying demands.

The Dynamics AX was implemented for the following areas: tool projects, molding patterns and devices, manufacture engineering (planning and coordination) and the tool construction operation. The benefits achieved include:

Capacity of planning and executing with more efficiency;

Using resources efficiently (balancing storage);

Capacity of work scheduling;

Capacity of planning different types of tools and components;

Integrated system eliminating: host systems and parallel controlling. Toll & Die Operation – General Motors.
