Age Groups

• The age groupings for carnival will depend upon the school year of each participant for the year ending 31st December 2015.

• Age groups will be determined once registrations have been completed and we see how many from each year have registered. In most cases participants will be competing with others in the same year as them at school. Some years may be combined depending on numbers.

• The minimum age for acceptance is 12 years of age as at 12 January 2016. Year 6 is the lowest year group at Carnival •The maximum age for acceptance is 16 years and 11 months as at 12 January 2016

Billeting

During carnival all participants are billeted with a team member from NSW. We will be trying to ensure all NSW participants receive a billet, so therefore we ask you to keep this in mind when asking for your child to be billeted with a friend. This may not always be possible.

If you already know someone from NSW your child would like to be billeted with, it is important that both you and the NSW competitor has this clearly marked on the registration form to ensure this is organized. You can organise multiple billets but we would prefer for 2 maximum depending upon final numbers.

Billeting will be worked out on the following priority: - Shomer Shabbat - Glatt Kosher - Kosher - Allergies - Gender - Age Group -Sport Choices

You will be notified who your billet just before the start of carnival

East or North???

Sydney has 2 main Jewish centres. These are on the North Shore (St Ives) and Eastern Suburbs (Bondi). As there are these two main areas we will be spreading the carnival between the two. Transport is provided where required but it will be the billet family parent’s responsibility to ensure each participant is where they need to be each day. Carnival rules state that only adults on a full license can drive the participants around. Participants are also not allowed to use public transport whilst at carnival.

Community Day

NSW is once again continuing the incredible initiative of Community Day. This year we will be sending all the participants to one of 40 charities or community organizations in small groups to ensure they all get the maximum out of the day. On this day the parents will have to drop off and pick up their children from the delegated organization. We will try to assign your child to an organisation close to you. Community day is on the Friday morning of the carnival between 9am and 1pm and is compulsory. Any participant who does not take part in Community Day will not be able to take part in the Carnival Raw Challenge.
