2 Care & Maintenance
Acrylic
Routine careFrequent cleaning of your benchtop with dishwashing
liquid will increase the gloss level of your top over time.Dirt and residue can easily be removed by using water,
soap, and Chemico paste.
In the unlikely event of a permanent blemish in your
acrylic benchtop, contact your local supplier to resolve
the problem without causing further damage. Altering
your finish with harsh products may create an inconsist-
ent appearance in the surface.
Use a Soft Scrub cleanser with Jif, Chemico or similar,
and rub in a circular motion.
When using the Chemico paste, use it with a damp cloth
then clean off with a dry towel.
Preventing damageThere are quick and easy solutions to repair accidental
and minor damages. However, it is most crucial to followthese precautionary measures to prevent severe and
permanent damages.
Always use a cutting board. Cutting directly on top of
the solid surface can scratch the benchtop.
Avoid exposing solid surfaces to strong chemicals, such
as acetone-based cleaners and solutions. If surfaces are
exposed to these chemicals, quickly rinse the surface
with water.
Keep direct and indirect heat away from benchtops.
Acrylic benchtops, such as TriStone, has innate proper-
ties that make them heat-resistant, however placing
heat-generating appliances directly on top of the surface
will eventually damage it. Use a trivet or hot pads when
placing hot objects on benchtops. Slow cookers should
be placed on boards, not the benchtop. Also allow cook-
ware to cool before placing them in the sinks.
Suppliers recommend that severe damages should
be repaired by a Certified Fabricator or Solid Surface
Repair Agents. For further assistance, please contact the
manufacturer of your particular brand of benchtop. For
TriStone, please contact Prima Solid Surfaces
(www.primasolidsurfaces.co.nz).

Laminate
Stainless Steel
Routine care
For regular cleaning it is best to use clean soapy warm
water and then wipe dry (avoid wiping the benchtop
with dirty washing up water as this can leave a fine film
of fat or cooking oil and can build up over time leaving
your bench top sticky).
If you have dried up food stuck to your laminate bench-
top apply a recommended cleaner and allow to soak for
a few minutes, wipe clean with a damp sponge or cloth;
if necessary use a scrubbing brush. For newsprint stains,
wipe with meths and a paper towel. Meths can dissolve
paint, so be careful not to let meths come into contact
with paint. Rust stains, soaking with lemon juice or vin-
egar may shift it. Pencil marks, rub with a wet rag.
Routine care
Wash surface with a soft cloth, and diluted cream
cleanser. Rinse and dry after every use. Drying is very
important to prevent mineral deposits in the water
from building up on the surface. If there are water
marks on the stainless steel surface use cream Jif and
a damp, clean, soft cloth. Always wipe in the direction
of the grain and over a larger area than the actual mark
to avoid leaving shiny spots on the surface. To remove
finger marks use meths and a paper towel. Meths can
dissolve paint, so be careful not to let meths come into
contact with paint.
Preventing damage
Dont leave fruits or fruit juices on the surface, wipe
them up immediately as they contain citric acids which
over time can etch the surface. Liquid hand soap often
contains sodium chloride which will corrode your stain-
less steel surface. Products to try avoid around stainless
steel include bleaches containing hydrochloride as it will
attack the stainless steel causing pitting and staining.
Certain foods can cause corrosion when left for prolong
periods such as fruits and juices, salt, vinegar, mustard
Recommended cleaning products for your laminate
benchtop are:
Ajax Spray & Wipe Multipurpose
Mr Muscle All Purpose Cleaner
Jif Powerspray.
Preventing damage
Never use any of the following products to clean your
laminate benchtop, abrasive cleaners such as:
Jif Cream Cleaner
Ajax (powder or liquid)
Chemico Brasso
Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner
Neat Janola or equivalent brands of bleaches
Also do not use wire wool scourer pads or sandpaper.
To avoid damage suppliers always recommend cutting
on an appropriate cutting board and never directly on
the benchtop surface. For further assistance, please
contact the manufacturer of your particular brand
of benchtop.
and mayonnaise. Silver dip cleaners contain acids which
attack stainless steel and leave a permanent stain. If any
of these products do come into contact with your stain-
less steel surface, wash away immediately with water.
Dont use a steel wool pad to clean your stainless steelsurface as they can leave particles of steel embedded in
the surface that will rust, and give the appearance of the
stainless steel itself is rusting.
To avoid damage suppliers always recommend cutting
on an appropriate cutting board and never directly on
the benchtop surface. For further assistance, please
contact the manufacturer of your particular brand
of benchtop.

Granite
Quartz
Routine care
Use clean, hot soapy water, rinse thoroughly and dry
with a soft cloth. Gentle use of a plastic Scotch-Brite pad
or similar can be used for any food residues that cannot
be removed easily.
Regular use of granite care spray will lift any dull
appearances. Professional resealing is recommended
every two years thereafter for best long term protection.
Preventing damage
Avoid hitting with anything blunt or heavy as thiscan cause chips or cracks. Avoid sitting, standing or
placing heavy items on unsupported areas. Granite is
heat resistant and moderate temperatures will not affect
the stone. However, extreme temperatures may damage
the granite therefore we recommend use of a heat pad
or a trivet with rubber feet.
Routine care
For everyday, routine cleaning suppliers recommend
wiping the surface with warm soapy water (a mild de-
tergent) and a damp cloth or alternatively use a quality
spray and wipe type cleaner.
To remove adhered materials like food, gum and nail
polish, first scrape away the excess with a sharp blade.
If there are any grey metal marks on the surface, a mild
detergent will remove it. Household bleach can gener-
ally be used as an effective cleaner to remove stubborn
marks, but care should be taken as some products are
considerably stronger than others.
Preventing damage
Do not use products that contain trichlorethane or
methylene chloride, such as paint removers or stripper.
Avoid any highly aggressive cleaning agents like oven
cleaner that have high alkaline / pH levels. Should
the surface be accidentally exposed to any of these
damaging products, rinse immediately with water to
neutralize the effect.
Quartz will tolerate brief exposures to moderately hot
temperatures, however prolonged direct contact with,
or radiated heat from very hot pots can cause thermal
shock, discolouration or damage. Therefore we recom-
mend the use of a heat pad or trivet to place hot items
on. To avoid damage suppliers always recommend cut-
ting on an appropriate cutting board and never directly
on the benchtop surface.
For further assistance, please contact the manufacturer
of your particular brand of benchtop.
Avoid prolong exposure to the following substances:
Rusted tins
Vinegar
Red wine
Beetroot
Sauces
Acids
Margarine and oils
(including splatters from the stove)
To avoid damage suppliers always recommend cutting
on an appropriate cutting board and never directly on
the benchtop surface.
For further assistance, please contact the manufacturer
of your particular brand of benchtop.
