CleaningUse a damp, clean, lint-free cloth that is free of loose fibers. Cloth diapers and terry cloth work well. Don’t use a cloth that you use on dishes or countertops. It could contain detergents, residue and fibers that will harm your cabinets.

If a cleanser is necessary, use a mild, liquid, non-abrasive cleaner. Murphy’s Oil Soap is a good choice. Apply the cleanser to your cleaning cloth. Don’t apply directly to the cabinet. Work in small areas so you can dry the cabinet immediately with a clean, lint-free cloth that is free of loose fibers.

Touch upEven with normal use, you will need to touch up cabinetry. We recommend using the Touch-Up Kit you receive with your cabinetry. Keep it in a safe place for future needs.

Climate controlBe aware that wood cabinetry installed in certain climates will take on or lose moisture, causing swelling or shrinkage of the components. Doors will swell in humid environments, especially, but not limited to, slab doors. Cabinetry installed in humid locations requires an air conditioned environment to mitigate this issue. For drier locations, or in winter where humidity is low, a humidifier should be run to maintain a moderate moisture level in the environment. While shrinkage will not generally be as significant as potential swelling, it does occur. Please note, changes due to climate conditions are not a quality issue, and are not covered by any warranty

CleaningDaily granite countertop care is as easy as cleaning with a gentle cleanser like Murphy’s Oil Soap or mild dish-washing liquid. If need to, you can use a synthetic scrubbing pad to clean your granite counter. With the proper maintenance, granite countertops stay new-looking for a long time. Here are easy steps to follow:

• Wipe up spills immediately• Use mild soap and water• Rinse• Use soft cloth to dry

SealingYour granite will require sealing to retain the color and clarity of the stone. It is necessary to reseal the counter when you notice greying. This most commonly occurs around areas where water may pool. How much you use your kitchen will play a part in how often it needs to be re-sealed. When you do re-seal, be sure to choose a non-toxic sealer, since counters are used for food preparation. You can find a professional grade sealer at The Tile Shop and other natural stone dealers. Avoid cheap sealers from big box stores.

Cleaning Clean only when needed with mild soap and water. Always immediately wipe off excess water left from the cleaning process. Do not expose your butcher block top to soap or water for longer than necessary to clean it. Do not use any cleaning product stronger than mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or cleaning pads on it.

Oil TreatmentYour solid maple butcher block top receives three oil treatments before it is shipped to your home. How often you have to treat your butcher block top depends on the frequency and type of use it gets in your home. When your butcher block top appears dull, it is time to treat it. To lengthen the time needed between treatments, follow the daily care instructions above.

MATERIALS NEEDED • A clean dry cloth that is free of loose fibers • Food safe mineral oil, available at hardware stores and home centers• Disposable towels

DIRECTIONS1. Apply a small amount of mineral oil to the clean cloth, making sure that the oil does not saturate the pad. 2. Using light pressure, use the cloth to spread the oil evenly over the surface of the butcher block top. Adjust the amount of oil on the cloth so that the surface of the butcher block top is uniformly covered with a light coat of oil.3. Maintain a wet cloth as you move across the surface of the butcher block top, working from where the last application of oil ended, working into the non-coated surface, blending the oil coverage evenly over the entire butcher block top.4. After the entire surface has been coated with oil, use a circular buffing motion over the butcher block top to speed the drying process and smooth the surface to eliminate the need for additional sanding.5. Allow the surface to dry for 15 minutes. Then wipe the countertop completely with disposable towels to remove any remaining finishing oil. If additional coats of oil will be required, store the clean cloth in an airtight bag to prevent drying between coats.6. Allow 24 hours for the oiled surface to dry before exposing countertop to water.7. Properly dispose of rags to avoid the risk of fire. Occasionally, light sanding may be required before you apply an oil treatment. If the surface is rough from knife cuts, or wood fibers are raised, it’s time to sand. When light sanding is necessary, use a fine grade sandpaper pad or a fine grit sandpaper to scour the surface of the butcher block top. Then proceed with step one.

KEEP IN MIND:

• The more you oil treat your butcher block top, the greater its resistance to dirt and staining• How you maintain the butcher block top during its first several months of use will determine, in large measure, the life expectancy of the butcher block top. A few simple preventative steps will keep wood countertops looking good. These tips apply to most finished wood, including furniture, paneling and wood floors.• Make sure plants are in drip-proof pots and that their leaves do not touch finished wood.• Always set items down and pick them up. Do not slide them across finished wood.• Do not set synthetics, rubber or plastic directly on wood finishes. They contain chemicals that can damage the finish.• Do not leave newspapers or other printed materials on finished wood. Inks used for printing can bleed into the finish.• Always use coasters under drinks.• Always use hot pads under hot items.• Even though the finish on a wood countertop is highly water resistant, we recommend that water or food spills be wiped up immediately after they occur.

CleaningFor most residues, all you need to clean your Corian® countertops is warm soapy water, ammonia-based household cleaner, or a dedicated countertop cleaner, like Clean EnCounters®. Do avoid window cleaners, however, as they can leave a waxy build-up that dulls the surface. For the toughest problems, we recommend Deep Cleaner for DuPont™ Corian® from Stone Care International.

Keep Your Corian® Countertops DryFilm will build up on countertops if water is left to dry on the surface. This film will dull the countertop surface, making the finish appear blotchy and uneven. To prevent film build-up, it is very important to wipe the countertop completely dry immediately after spills and cleaning.

Some colors of Corian® may require more frequent cleaning to maintain a uniform finish. Darker colors tend to require more attention than lighter colors. Over time, even with proper care, your countertop will acquire a sheen. Dark colors may show light scratches more readily. But rest assured — restoring your countertops to their original glory is an easy process.

Preventing Heat Damage

While Corian® solid surface is heat resistant, as with all countertop materials, it is important to minimize direct heat exposure to protect your surface and investment.

IMPORTANT — DO NOT PLACE HOT POTS, PANS, ETC. DIRECTLY ON THE COUNTERTOP SURFACE.

Always use heat trivets or pads when placing hot objects on any surface. Always use a trivet under portable heat-generating appliances, such as a toaster oven. Allow cookware to cool before placing it into a Corian® sink.

Preventing Other DamageIn most cases, DuPont™ Corian® surfaces can be repaired if damaged. Be sure to follow these guidelines to help you prevent any permanent damage to your Corian® countertop.

Avoid getting strong chemicals, such as paint removers, oven cleaners, etc., on your Corian® countertop. If a spill does occur, promptly flush the surface with water to fully rinse off the chemical.

IMPORTANT - DO NOT CUT DIRECTLY ON CORIAN® COUNTERTOPS. USE A CUTTING BOARD.

Boiling water alone will not damage your Corian® sink. However, it is a recommended practice to run cold water from the faucet while pouring boiling water into the sink.

Cleaning Maintaining Cambria is easy. Simply wash with a soft cotton cloth and warm water, use a mild soap if desired.

• DO NOT expose, in use or otherwise, Cambria to abrasive or strong alkaline or acid or free radicals or oxidizers or the like (whether high, neutral or low pH) cleaners. Various chemicals are corrosive and/or erosive in their ability to attack any structure including Cambria. Be very aware of these potential damages to your surface.

• Cambria IS NOT heat proof, chemical proof or fracture proof in any form. Be aware of damaging exposure to these potential damaging acts upon your Cambria.

• DO NOT use or expose Cambria to such products including, but not limited to bleach, oven cleaners, Comet®, Soft Scrub®, SOS®, products with pumice, batteries, paint removers, furniture strippers, tarnish or silver cleaners, or the like.

• DO NOT use abrasive or harsh scrub pads.

• DO NOT apply any sealers, penetrants or topical treatments to Cambria under any circumstances. Such products will wear off and cause the gloss to appear dull or inconsistent. Contact Cambria for further information by calling 1-866-Cambria or by completing the customer support form.

Cambria is pure natural quartz. Variation in the natural stone (quartz) color, pattern, size, shape and shade are inherent and unique characteristics to be expected with this Product. This does not affect the Product performance in any manner.

Color blotches are intended and designed into many designs to enhance the natural beauty. Samples are small select cuts from a slab; they do not exhibit all the characteristics of a design and therefore are not fully representative of what will be installed. Product will not be replaced due to these variations.

Cambria is durable and more resistant to surface damage than other stone. However, all stone can be damaged by force and no stone is chip-proof. Objects hitting edges particularly at sinks or dishwashers may cause chips. Though a minor knife slip will dull the knife and not harm Cambria, no stone surface is scratch-proof. Surface markings are more visible on monotone designs than multi-colored surfaces.

Cambria is not a seamless Product, seams are visible. Where there are seams the product pattern and shade can change.

Natural stone surfaces can be damaged by sudden and/or rapid change of temperature especially near the edges, as well as direct and/or sustained heating of the top. Cambria may not withstand the direct transfer of heat from pots and pans and other cooking units such as electric frying pans and griddles, and some crockpots or roaster ovens and heat lamps. Therefore, the use of a hot pad or trivet is always recommended to prevent heating the Product.

Cambria is not a structural support Product. 2cm and 3cm Cambria thicknesses are for countertops and must be supported. 1cm thicknesses are for surface finishes such as walls, tub and shower surrounds and fireplaces; horizontal applications such as a tub deck must be completely supported as well.Semi-polished finishes (1cm) will not shine and will soil and appear to stain from soiling.

Cambria installation is optimized when walls and cabinets are properly prepared for installation. This includes but is not limited to structurally sound, straight, level and square walls and cabinets, lack of which may cause poor installation and poor seam fit, or inconsistent countertop overhang and placement.

Cambria installation does not include qualification of any sink or stove cutouts (any cutouts), faucet hole locations or cabinet sizes. Cambria IS NOT responsible for verifying if sinks, stove or other cutout appliances, cabinets and faucet hole locations fit together well, or at all. This is the responsibility of the owner, general contractor, or the like. Cambria will fabricate cutouts per supplied model/template information. Cambria IS NOT responsible for the accuracy of the information provided.

Cleaning LIQUIDS AND WATER

Water and other liquids can cause your floor to warp and buckle. Never use a steam cleaner and never mop your floor with water. Make sure to wipe up spills immediately.

GRIT AND SHARPSSand, dust and dirt can scratch your plank floor. Clean sand and dirt from your plank flooring immediately, especially sand and dirt located in high traffic areas.

WAX AND OILYour plank flooring includes an eight-layer polyurethane, no-wax finish. Use of wax, oil or oil soap is as likely to damage your floor, as it is to help. Often these products will make your floors look wonderful after the first application. However, after multiple uses, the product build up becomes cloudy and the beauty and color of your plank floors is lost until the build up is removed.

DAMP SPONGEClean spills and sticky messes with a well-wrung damp sponge, soft cloth or paper towel.

VACUUM OR SWEEPVacuum or sweep the floor to remove any sand or grit from the floor surface and beveled edges between the boards. If vacuuming, do not use a vacuum with a rug beater bar, use an electric broom or stick vacuum. If sweeping, use a broom with soft bristles.

DRY AND DAMP DUSTINGDry dust your floors with a micro fiber dust mop. To damp dust, lightly mist the section of floor you are damp dusting with a quality hardwood floor cleaner or window cleaner.

Preventive CareAPPLIANCE MOVEMENT

Thoroughly clean your plank floor prior to moving appliances to prevent scratching caused by sand or grit. Place a clean piece of carpet, pile side down, under the appliance and move the appliance slowly across the floor into position. If moving the appliance for service or cleaning, roll the appliance onto a piece of Masonite or Luan to prevent grooving or tracking of the floor.

FURNITURE MOVEMENTThoroughly clean your plank floor prior to moving furniture to prevent scratching caused by sand or grit. As your furniture may have inadequate, damaged or missing protective slides, we strongly suggest removal and replacement of all existing slides with high quality felt furniture glides. This prevents damage from initial furniture placement as well as damage from furniture movement for cleaning and re-arrangement.

Casters can cause severe damage to plank flooring. Though precautions cannot ensure casters will not damage your plank flooring, we strongly suggest replacement of all steel, wood and plastic casters with high quality, non-marking, soft rubber or Polyurethane casters as well as the use of rubber backed protective roller mats.

DOOR MATS AND RUGSPlace quality rubber backed (not jute) door mats, both on the inside and outside of each exterior door location of your home to protect your plank floors from abrasive sand and grit. Placing rugs in high traffic areas will help preserve the gloss level of your plank flooring.

HUMIDITY CONTROLTo prevent damage to your plank flooring, maintain the humidity in your home between 35% and 60%. To maintain the recommended humidity levels, Frame Hardwoods, Inc. strongly suggests year around humidity control via a humidifier and dehumidifier. Use of a Hygrometer is also essential in maintaining correct humidity control.
