The Business Expo

Neighbourhood Business Expo

We recognise that the current economy limits many organisations ability to donate to charities and that it is even more critical than before for sponsors to see some return for their investment. This is the reason we are embarking on what we hope will be an annual event for the Trust.

We are planning to hold a Business Expo for local schools, families and the wider Mairehau community to visit over three days.

The inaugural expo would be held around the existing hall facility in Term 1 (22nd – 24th March 2011) and will be planned and project managed by a team of students from Mairehau High School, Mairehau Primary School and Our Lady of Fatima overseen by the Trust Fundraising Coordinator.

The Business Expo will have a dual theme of “What businesses do” and “How they do it”, giving the children and parents of the schools the chance to see what local and national businesses do and also the chance to ask questions of those businesses about opportunities and career development. This fits well with the Enterprise theme and Careers topics which are standard curriculum components for all the schools.

The expo will be structured to allow parents to attend with their child’s class group or separately during evening sessions over the three days, providing maximum opportunities for sponsors to meet potential new customers and to gather information.

We will obtain parental consent for any child to submit their contact details prior to the expo and each child will be provided with a pack of “business cards” to allow them to easily enter prize draws and provide sponsors with contact details.

We are confident that the 2012 expo will be held in the new School and Community Hall facility and will be a celebration of the contribution to the Mairehau Community that businesses and individuals have made.

Participation in the expo will be only part of the return for sponsorship possible along with exposure on both the School and the Trust’s websites, inclusion in our regular newsletter currently circulated to 500 households in the area, permanent signage on the sponsor board in the foyer of the new facility and opportunity to participate in other events organised by the Trust depending upon the level of sponsorship taken.

The Project

The Mairehau Primary School and Community Hall Trust is a charitable trust formed for the purposes of building and managing a joint school and community facility for the Mairehau, Christchurch area. Mairehau School is located on Mahars Road, Mairehau and was opened on May 25, 1953 with a roll of 213 students. The current school roll stands at 342. We have a teaching staff of 15. The school caters for children from age 5 through 13 – new entrants to Year 8. It is a multi-cultural school reflecting the Mairehau community with 17 nationalities currently represented. The current hall was built in 1962 and has long since outlived its “use by date” being too small, too cold, too hot and missing many of the facilities needed to cater to the needs of the people who use it. Our aim is to create a new facility that will meet needs, exceed expectations and provide:

• A central hub and heart for the Mairehau community • A multi-purpose building that brings together school and community on a day to day

basis • Recognition of the multicultural community around us • Pride and a sense of ownership for the pupils & staff of Mairehau Primary and the wider

community • Proof that with belief, aspiration and determination what you have and what you’ve done

before does not need to limit what you can achieve and what is possible.

The Programme Our expected programme for the Expo is outlined below. Not all the content and timing has been confirmed however the changes, if any, are expected to be minimal and not to impact on the public time available for the sponsors.

It is possible that there will be some additional public sessions / presentation times available for sponsors to purchase depending on the bookings currently being managed.

Platinum Package – Expo for 2011 and 2012 Exhibitor Booth

1. Hire of 6m x 6m shell stand for 3 days 2. Your company name will appear on the facia in 100mm high vinyl lettering (max 30 letters) 3. 2 x 150 watt spotlights plus 1 x 240 volt power point 4. Package includes costs to assemble and pack down the booth. Set up of company displays is the

responsibility of the sponsor. 5. Package excludes furniture hire requirements. 6. A security guard will patrol the expo area but no commitment is implied or given. Sponsors must lock

down or remove all items of value when the booth is unattended.

Branding

1. Naming rights to the expo and in all advertising the expo will be referred to including the sponsor name. 2. Your logo will appear on the cover of official booklet and the expo bags 3. Your company will be acknowledged and your logo and 100 word profile in the official expo booklet

(electronic artwork of logo will need to be supplied) 4. An advertisement or message supplied electronically by you will appear on the inside front cover of the

official expo booklet 5. You may supply a company brochure or promotional materials (up to a maximum of 5 pages) to be

inserted into the official expo bag to be distributed to all visitors as they arrive at the expo. 6. Your support as the Platinum Sponsor will be acknowledged with your name, logo and web link on the

home page of the Mairehau Primary School and Community Hall Trust website along with an article of approximately 100 words profiling your involvement on the Expo page.

7. You may supply banners to be hung in the hall for the duration of the expo. 8. Street signage provided by the Trust will include your logo and name. 9. You will have the option to supply sales and promotional material to be included on the post event

Exclusivity

Platinum and Gold level sponsorships will have exclusivity of business type within the expo guaranteed.

Travel and Accommodation

All sponsors are responsible for travel and accommodation for their staff and sponsorship does not cover these expenses.
